It was a Wednesday. April 14, 2004, to be exact. I heard my alarm and woke up. The clock said 4:00. Back to bed Amy, I thought. But by the time I laid down, my mum decided to wake me up by turning on the light and screaming at me using my full name. Fun.
"AMELIA JULIA LEE!!! WAKE UP!!! We need to be at Sunset High by 5:00! If you don't wake up now, you'll miss the bus to Jacksonville," she said
"5 more minutes Mom." That was not the right thing to say. She swatted me on the head.
"Amelia!!! NOW!" she screeched. That automatically made me jump out of my bed and into my closet. Within 5 minutes, I was dressed in a red T- shirt with black lettering that said 'Give Peace a chance', a pair of flare jeans, and a black hoodie around my waist. I put my boring brown hair in a ponytail so my hair wouldn't get in my face.
I quickly ate a breakfast bar, but not too fast to make me choke. I didn't need to kill myself on the most important days of my young 14 year- old life. I checked my luggage to make sure I had everything I needed for the trip and I wasn't missing anything. I loaded my luggage, my 20-pound display, and my 8-foot display board into the car and zipped over to Sunset High. I got there around 4:45. I could have easily slept for five more minutes.
While My Dad loaded my project into the van that held everyone else's, I gave my field trip form to Mr. London, one of the chaperones. He looked extremely tired, like the rest of us.
I gave my goodbyes to my dad, and got on the bus. I decided to sit in the front, like most "aliens" do. Right across the aisle, there was a boy. He looked pretty cute. I really wanted to talk to him but I decided not to because he was asleep. Oh well. I got bored so I started listening to my Skye Sweetnam CD. The Bus started to move when I got to the Song, "Tangled Up In Me." We had to pick up more people, so we stopped at Krop Senior High. We waited about 20 minutes until everybody was on the bus. Then we started the journey to Jacksonville.
