Me: Hey this is my first fruits basket fan fiction that I actually decided to type up cause I can really think of things for it….it's in Kyo's POV and it goes back from when he was about age 6 to when he started living with Kazuma. Hope you like it. I know it still needs some revising, but hey….it's almost 2 in the morning and I know I'm not going to be able to go to sleep anyways, so---

People reading: get on with it damn it!

Me: ah! Ok well-- dodges tomatoes and cabbages here's the fan fiction!

Has there ever been a time in your life where you had to just get away from everyone and take a look at the hell you live? Well, for me it was one of these nights. I sat up on the roof and stared at the stars, hoping no one, not even Tohru, would come up to get me. I just wanted to be alone. As soon as I began to think, memories assaulted my mind, too many clashing together all at once.

OOOoooOOOoooOOOooo

I moved the window curtain to look outside, something I was not used to doing. I squinted my eyes until they adjusted to the unfamiliar light. I could make out shapes of kids playing outside. There were two girls sitting on the porch playing with some rag dolls and laughing. There were a few boys about my age to the side playing fruits basket. It seemed like a lot of fun…..maybe they could use another person to play….

I made my way down the stairs, jumping lightly over the stair that creaked, and looked at the towering heavy oak door. I reached up for the lock. I watched my mother lock it enough times to know which way to turn it, and maybe now I was tall enough to reach it. I could feel the cold metal on my fingertips when a hand snatched mine hastily. I looked up to see my mother and gave her a slightly confused look.

"Kyo, what were you doing?" there was a hint of anger in her voice although she tried covering it up.

"There were some kids outside and need another person to play with—"

"Nonsense! They'll get along fine without you," She began leading me from the door and up the stairs. "Besides, you're so cute I don't want anyone to see you. I'm almost finished with lunch. Common, come help me finish."

Mom ran her hand through my hair. "You know I love you right?" I nodded my head. "Alright, let's go finish lunch." As she took my hand, she pulled up my sleeve, revealing my black and white beaded bracelet. She always wanted to make this gesture only when it looked like I wasn't paying attention. She probably thought that I would be sad if she did this while I was watching. I was always paying attention, but the gesture never really bothered me. To me, it was normal. I don't know why she thought I would take them off though…..

OOOoooOOOoooOOOooo

The words echoed in my head.

'You know I love you, right?'

She had never loved me. It was all a facade. A lie.

I laid back down on the roof and stared at the stars absent mindedly.

It would have been better me than her...

XXXXxxxxXXXXxxxxXXXXxxxxXXXXxxxxXXXXxxxxXXXX

And that would be the end of chapter 1. Hope you liked. If anyone could help me come up with a better title for this fanfic, it would greatly be appricieted. And even though I have most of this thought out in my head, ideas for this would be accepted.

And I won't nark you or anything, but please review...I won't continue unless I get reviews from 5 different people and trust me the next chapters WILL be better.
