Princess Leia Organa stared exhaustedly out at the Coruscant cityscape. She heard a knocking at the door and went to open it to see her father, Bail Organa. She smiled at the sight of a familiar face and he wrapped his arms around her in a warm embrace.

"I'm so proud of you, Leia. You did an amazing job out there today," he told her with a huge grin.

"Thanks dad," she replied, her round cheeks blushed. "I'm glad I didn't listen to you."

He laughed and nodded. "I wasn't worried that you couldn't handle it, Leia. You're a lot tougher and smarter than most of the other senators. I was, and still am, more worried about the future. Not just tomorrow or the day after, but what if the Empire realizes that you are sympathetic to the Rebellion? I don't think I should need to stress upon you the seriousness of keeping your intentions covert, Leia."

Leia crossed back to the other side of the room where a bench had been placed for her to look out over the city. She sighed and fell onto it with a soft thud that caused her head dress to go awry - She'd always been told it was best to look impressive while addressing the Senate.

"You look so much like your mother." Bail mused.

A puzzled expression crossed her face as she turned around to look at her father. "I don't look anything like mom," she replied.

Bail shook his head. "No, not my wife. Your mother. I suppose it's about time that I tell you the whole story." He followed in her footsteps to the couch and sat down beside her. "During the Clone Wars there lived a young woman by the name of Padmé Naberrie Amidala,"

"She was the senator from the Naboo during the wars and the years prior," Leia cut in.

"Yes, she was. She was also a good friend of mine. Padmé fell in love with a man called Anakin Skywalker, a Jedi Knight. They wed secretly, as marriage was frowned upon in the Jedi Order. The War raged on and your parents rarely saw each other. Anakin came back from a campaign in the Outer Rim to learn that his wife was expecting.

"Palpatine ordered all of the Clone Troopers to assassinate the Jedi, fearing that they would take over. Your father was one of those killed in the seige of the Jedi Temple. Your mother then died giving birth to you and," Bail had almost said, 'your brother Luke,' but refrained. It was not yet time for her to learn of her brother, if he even existed anymore. "And Master Yoda, a powerful Jedi, suggested that I take you with me to Alderaan. There Breha and I could take you into our family and love you as if you were our own and keep you safe, for if the Emperor knew that you were the daughter of Anakin Skywalker he would surely wish nothing but harm for you. I'm sorry that I didn't tell you sooner, Leia. I really am. I just thought it would be best kept for a time when I felt that you were ready to hear the truth."

"I understand," she said softly. "And it doesn't surprise me. Somehow, deep down, I've always known. I saw a holo of my mother addressing the senate once during my studies. As soon as I saw it I just knew."

Bail gave his adopted daughter another hug. "Are you going to stop calling me dad, now?" He laughed.

"Only if you stop calling me your daughter." She replied with a small smile.
