The Dance
An eternity ago, or so that it seems
God had sent you to me
Two wandering souls
That love had turned its back on
And kindness had betrayed
That evil had devoured
And emptiness had remained—
A short eternity ago
God gave us a chance
To have the time to love
And to grow
And to feast
And to dance
Dance in a divine ballroom
Of love and simplicity
Of kindness and wealth
Of sacrifice and giving
Courage
And humility
The music was so heavenly
And possessed a rhythm of life
Rhythm of health
The music's tempo
Become a rhythm of an evil symphony
And the dance had quickly become
A masquerade—
Of characters and costumes
And charades
Remove the mask
Sweet dancer
And let me see the face that
I loved—
The man that I entered the room with
So proudly
My beloved
Dance to the same rhythm
Once again
Be and instrument of love
And unity-
Sweet sweet melodies
Like the violin
Ballroom dancer
Gentleman and nobleman
Handsome
And fearsome
You were the best symphony
For a time
Even a short eternity
