This is the story about the first time Lyserg moved house…
The wind was howling outside, the curtains of Yoh's bedroom windows were flapping about frantically. It was a cold, mysterious night – perfect for something magical to happen. Yoh's friends, Trey and Len were at Yoh's flat for a sleepover.
It was getting late; the three friends had been up watching Yu-Gi-Oh DVDs until 11 o'clock. There were numerous empty popcorn buckets, sweet wrappers and pizza boxes (there were also a few empty bottles of milk that Yoh gave to Len, but they were stacked neatly in the corner). Underneath all the mess, there were Yoh, Len and Trey's sleeping bags.
"BEEP! BEEP!"
Lyserg's alarm clock went off. He lived in the flat under Yoh's. He was good friends with trey, and even had his own door key! Tonight was the night Lyserg thought he would use this key. Lyserg put on his shoes and coat, sneaked quietly out of his flat and up the stairs to number 17.
The key turned silently in the lock. Click – and Lyserg was in. He crept through the living-room and into Yoh's dining room/kitchen. He opened the fridge and grabbed some cold custard. Lyserg prepared it earlier when he was hanging out with the others I the kitchen – apparently making a cake for the next day.
A wooden spoon was grabbed form the utensils rack on the way over to the bedroom where the boys were sleeping. He pushed open the door, quickly but quietly. As Lyserg was wading through the litter beside the wardrobe, he noticed the sleeping bags were empty! Lyserg looked to his left, the window was right open and a thin rope ladder was hanging down.
Lyserg looked out of the window. On the ground below was an odd shaman-sized shape cut out of the rose bushes below. Lyserg gasped – something awful had happened!
A small, purple, pointy head appeared out of Lyserg's window! It was Len – he looked quite excited, but shocked at the same time. He quickly pulled his head back in a slammed the windows shut. Lyserg, rather clumsily, climbed out of the window and onto the ladder. Lyserg was finding it hard to keep hold of the ladder. It was cold and windy, but also slippery.
Lyserg managed to climb down the ladder a bit more until he got down to where his window was. He noticed the corner of a butter packet, but this wasn't any ordinary butter, this was some of Len's (or Len-Cow's to Lyserg) favourite buttery snack!
Lyserg hands were slipping, he tried to grab hold of the window sill. He missed. Lyserg tumbled down and down, down all 15 other floors. He re-entered the rose bushes' atmosphere with a thud. AND a sharp pain. Something was fluttering in the wind – it was stuck to one of the thorns on the rose bushes.
Lyserg picked the note off and read it…
"Hopefully – if our calculations are correct if Len's calculations are correct. You should be face up in the middle of a shaman-shaped hole in some rose bushes. Well, we only have one thing to say to you. HA HA HA HA!
Len, Yoh and Trey.
PS. Trey was snowboarding in your kitchen and broke your washing machine – it's just a coincidence that we accidentally covered your clothes in butter and milk."
Lyserg was fuming. He yelled up at the window:
"You guys – this isn't funny!"
The window opened Yoh popped his head out. He also had a large glass of something. He tipped it upside down. A load of creamy milk came splashing down from it, all over Lyserg's head.
Trey and Len walked out of the front door to the flats. A big sign was over their heads: "ROOM TO BUY – PLEASE CONTACT LYSERG".
