Promising Words
a/n: I do not own Labyrinth. And this is the first poem I have written since I was a teenager, so be gentle. I do not ask the muses why, I only write down what they send me. I cannot help if it is crud. I kinda like it.
Years since I fell in love,
A man in black with hair like moonlight.
Sparkling dresses, promising words,
I wonder why I didn't say yes.
I wonder why I didn't stay.
I did what was right,
I did what I had to.
I broke your heart,
And steeled mine own.
One day I called out
One day I screamed your name.
It was anger and need,
It was frustration and desire,
They drove me to it.
Blame them for my outburst.
No matter what I really wanted,
No matter what I imagined would happen.
I closed my eyes and held my breath.
I waited for the other shoe to drop.
At the edge of a cliff,
Bracing to fall into your arms
Get lost in your eyes
Drown under your mouth
Burn under your touch
Have it all or have nothing.
Years since I fell in love
A man in black with hair like moonlight.
You tempt me you test me
I bend but I do not break.
Don't make me say it
Don't make me beg
I close my eyes and hold my breath…
