She walked into the darkened room and the hairs on the back of her neck immediately stood up and told her that she wasn't alone. Her heart started beating a fraction harder, her blood rushing just that much quicker, because she could smell him now, and she knew that she was in trouble. No one knew where she was. The halls were silent. There was no one to hear her screams, no one to come to her rescue. She was alone. With him. In the dark.
"You're late," he said, and she shivered at the impatience in his tone.
"Rodney -"
"No. No excuses. We had an appointment. You missed it."
But she wanted to explain. She needed him to know that it wasn't her fault. "I'm sorry. But -"
"Elizabeth. I said no. All I want to hear is how you're going to make it up to me."
He stepped out of the shadows and she tried to hide a grin. He looked annoyed, frustrated, and . . . oh, god, pouty. She shivered again, because if there was one thing she'd learned from their 'appointments' it was that a pouty John Sheppard meant all sorts of delicious trouble.
"John, I "
"Unless the next words out of your mouth are, 'Against the wall, now', I don't want to hear about whatever McKay said, did, discovered or blew up."
And just like that, all thoughts not directly related to the man before her vanished from her mind.
Because she was alone. With him. In the dark. And there was no one around to hear her scream.
Just the way they both liked it.
