Disclaimer: William, Merlin, and the story of The Scatterlings belongs to the very talented Isobelle Carmody, not me.
Author's Notes: This is based on The Scatterlings, a wonderful post apocalyptic fantasy/sci fi by the Australian author Isobelle Carmody. You really should get yourself a copy, its brilliant. This is based on a writing challenge to pick a book and then write a very short fiction based on the next song you hear. I heard "Time of Your Life". If you don't know it, the main lyrics are: Another turning point, a fork stuck in the road, Time grabs you by the wrist, directs you where to go, So make the best of this test, and don't ask why, It's not a question, but a lesson learned in time, It's something unpredictable, but in the end it's right, I hope you had the time of your life. So take the photographs, and still frames in your mind, Hang it on a shelf in good health and good time, Tattoos of memories and dead skin on trial, For what it's worth it was worth all the while"
Anyway! Enjoy it, and I'd love some reviews if its not too much trouble. Thanks!
Time Of Your Life
A kiss on the lips, and then he walked her out and left her. He thought of her, his sleeping princess who he would awaken with a kiss. She had woken herself from her slumber. The results of her existence were an unpredicted fork in the road. But in the end, he knew it was right. He didn't ask why, he gladly accepted. She had thought, she had will. He had made her, piece by piece, knew every thing about her. And the effort was worth it. But she had changed. She was no longer a sleeping princess. She was alive. As he prepared for D- Jump, he thought of her. He hoped she'd remember him. And he hoped she'd have the time of her life.
