Nobody Calls Me Chicken!

Disclaimer: Nope, Back to the Future is not mine. Now take back that lawsuit.

It was the afternoon of October the thirty-first, and Lorraine McFly walked into the house with a plastic bag on her arm. "Oh, Marty! Marty!"

Nine-year-old Marty McFly ran out of the hall to greet his mother. "Where did you go?"

"Well, I've finally gone and bought your Halloween costume," Lorraine replied. "I'm sorry I couldn't get one earlier, Marty. I've just been so busy. Now let's go to your room and try it on. I know you'll like it." Marty followed her into his bedroom and Lorraine set the plastic bag on top of the bed.

"What is it?" Marty asked.

"You'll see." She opened the bag and took the costume out. "There, now try it on."

She helped Marty into the costume, and when he was dressed, she stood him in front of a full-length mirror. "Isn't that cute! What do you think?"

Marty stared at his reflection. He was dressed in a white chicken costume, with wings and feet and a false beak.

"Well?" asked Lorraine.

"It's okay... I guess," said Marty slowly. He hoped his mother was joking. A chicken?

"Wonderful!" said Lorraine. "Now you're all ready to go trick-or-treating tonight!" Marty sighed and took off the costume.

OoooO

Night fell, and it time for Marty to go trick-or-treating with his parents. Dave and Linda would be going with friends of theirs. George and Lorraine walked their son up to the first house and Marty knocked on the door. As a woman opened it, Marty said, "Trick-or-treat!"

The woman bent down to get a good look at Marty. "Why, hello there! Aren't you just a cute little chicken!"

Marty felt his body tense up, and he dropped his trick-or-treating bag. He lifted his head upwards to look the woman in the eyes. "What did you just call me?"

She patted him on the head. "You little chicken!"

Marty's eyes narrowed and his hands clenched into fists. He spoke slowly. "Nobody call me chicken!" He pounced on the woman and managed to knock her over.

"MARTY!" George and Lorraine rushed over and grabbed their son. The woman's hair was a bit mussed and her backside was aching, but she was unhurt. She had probably never been mauled by a nine-year-old before. Now that's just something you don't see every day.

Lorraine grabbed Marty by the shoulders and shook him. "Marty! What was the meaning of that?"

"I just can't let anybody call me a chicken!" Marty replied.

"Marty, she didn't say you were a coward or anything," George said. "Your behavior was completely unjustified! Now apologize to her!"

Marty sighed. "Okay." He walked over to the door, where the woman was still standing in the doorway. Marty looked up at her. "I'm sorry for-"

"AAAGGGHH!" the woman shrieked. "He's back!" She slammed the door and ran off to hide underneath her kitchen table.

"I don't think we should do any more trick-or-treating tonight," said George nervously. The truth was, he was afraid the police would be after them for frightening the neighbors.

"Yes, let's go home," Lorraine agreed. The three McFlys walked back to their house, and Marty immediately threw his chicken costume into the fireplace, where it burned to a crisp. It was definitely one of the most interesting nights the McFly family had ever had.

After that incident, George and Lorraine were very careful about mentioning the word "chicken" whenever Marty was around. They didn't dare mention it even when they were just having chicken for dinner. Getting mauled by a child certainly wasn't the way they wanted to die.

The end.

Please make sure review. If you don't, I'll think it's unworthy. I just don't think I can take that kind of rejection.
