------ SHARP SWEET BEAUTIFUL (by Kuroya) ((Written: 3/28/05 Published: 7/02/05)) --------
There are two cups on the table, and the smooth pearl of their china strikes harshly against the grain of the wood. Morning sunshine filters in through the blinds on the kitchen windows, and shapes of white and yellow light dance across the dark liquid within those teacups.
I want to turn away, but i can't. You're waiting for me, somewhere, in far-off dreamscapes, and i can't refuse. I can't refuse You.
In another world, sunlight turns to moonlight and i sit down at the table. Tiny wafts of silver steam drift up to meet my nostrils- swaying, weeping, calling. I fall inward, and the taste on my tongue is fear.
You haven't come yet, but i'll wait. There are two cups on the table, so i'll wait even when the shadows shred my skin to reveal ivory bone.
I lift the cup to my lips, and they part as if expecting a lover's kiss, waiting forever and receiving nothing but cold tea leaves. The day could be almost gone by now.
My cup tips forward, liquid flowing into my mouth. At once, i am lost, and there is You and here is me, and where do i start and end? The taste is Sharp Sweet Beautiful, rose thorns lodged in my throat, and i can't breathe but i'm drowning.
You haven't come yet, but it doesn't matter because i taste You anyway, sweet poison and fury and love. Sharp Sweet Beautiful.
Cold tea, tastes like arsenic, broken china decorating floor tiles in the fading light. I can see You, and behind my eyes You are still poison.
Can't scream, can't breathe, but take another sip. Dusk is dancing on my bones, tree branches like fingers brushing against my skin, Your presence lingering just out of my reach.
I tip back in my chair, joining the china on the floor. In pieces. Sharp Sweet Beautiful... Tastes like Insanity, then it's gone.
And i'm with You.
