Why her?
Why did he spend so much time being with her, trying to break through her tough exterior, to the tender heart he knew existed?
He could have any woman he wanted, most would kill for a chance to date him.
But not her.
She was not subservient to him, or anyone for that matter, she was his equal.
All those other women just saw a handsome face, but she saw more.
She saw him for what he really was, not lowly military dog, nor a heroic god.
No, she just saw him as a man, a man with the drive to protect those around him, no matter what it took.
He knew she had a goal as well, to help him achieve his own. And, like him, she'd do anything to see it succeed.
That's what made her different.
She was his equal.
