"Move it, move it we don't want to fall behind our quota? Do we boys".
"Sir, no sir! Yelled back the miners of mine #365 on the outskirts of the small town of Salonkia. The mine had been open for only two months and already they had fallen behind on their quota for the year. Not only that but they had lost almost one hundred miners in a series of accidents. Many had said that the mine was cursed and now the miners would work only if they had chemical-inhalers.
Third level Shaft # 4
" Hey Harem"!
"Yea, what the hell do you want". Yelled Harem
" Get the boss man I hit something metal and it sounds hollow". Yelled back Leroy.
"Hey boss come here I think we found another chamber room".
The boss ran over and knocked hard once on the large metal object that Leroy had found. The boss agreed that this was a metal door and the order was given to clear the outline of the door. An hour later the whole door had been cleared. Finally the boss could see how big the door actually was. It was huge at least ten feet tall and six feet wide. Without thinking he ordered the door to be blown open.
The door was blown open after two tries. The boss and ten other miners were the first to come under the curse of the object that sat on a pedestal. The boss was the first one to touch the large metallic box. He picked it up and opened the lid. The boss's soul was the first to be sucked into the box followed by the remaining miners in the room. The box's lid closed and more curios miners filled the room. They picked up the box and brought it to the surface and that's when it was opened for the second time and sucked the souls of almost a hundred miners. This time though it sent a pulse signal out into the atmosphere, trying to reach its Chaos masters.
Within two hours the soul-less miners rose and grabbed whatever weapons they could and began to lead the thousand or so miners to the box and all became soul-less warriors. Within a day two mines that surround mine 365 were consumed by the box. Until the number of miners reached almost ten thousand did the box order the attack on Salonkia. The Guard Company put up a valiant defense but was overrun in only a week. A message was sent about the mysterious object from the overrun city of Salonkia. The chatter came quickly from almost the entire planet within the month. Word was sent out for an investigation of the planet when freighters did not return from an orbital station when receiving their monthly cargo.
Inquisitor Walrond answered the call for an investigation of the planet. He quickly assembled two platoons of storm troopers and two squads of greyknights as well as a squad of greyknight terminators and Walrond's personal bodyguard. He commandeered the next mining freighter and made quick haste to the stricken planet. The Crimson Fist chapter as well sent one of their strike cruisers to Skanish Prime to respond to an immediate threat.
