Okay, so this is crappy free-verse poem I wrote set after the mind wipe at the end of EC. It's told in second person but Artemis is obviously the focus of the poem and it's kind of written in his thought process with subtle hints of memories creeping in. Please go easy on me as this is my first attempt at anything resembling fanfiction in over two years and my very first fanfiction attempt within the Artemis Fowl fandom. Oh, and I DON'T OWN ARTEMIS FOWL. They're Colfer's characters; and I'm not the genius that Colfer is. Reviews would be amazing.

Powerless

Look out at the lambent light of the full moon

Hanging silver in her silky sky, blackened by night,

The magical orb full of beauty and power.

Power…

Why?

You used to know… but now you're not sure.

Vague memories cloud the edges of consciousness: visions of full moons and acorns…

Acorns made of gold, rooted in the lapel of… Rooted?

Gold.

Aurum potestas est.

The moon is silver, but you know there is power there.

You cannot grasp it: only They can.

They? Who?

Your fantasies, the ones that tantalize you in half-remembered dreams,

These creatures, these people, these beings, these… People?

Watch the flames dancing like fiery magma in the fireplace and

Observe the decorations hung over it, the boughs hung there in preparation for Christmas:

Deep, Irish green contrasting blood red berries that bleed pure white, boughs of…

Holly…?

Shake yourself; look at your carefully manicured nails

Whose pale sheen reflect the soft glow of the silver moon.

Silver. The opposite of gold.

Weak. Powerless.

…Or is it?
