Title: Getting Ready
Fandom: Loveless
Pairing: Mei-->Mimuro (Fearless)
Notes: Leave it to me to take a shounen ai anime that a lot of people know, and write for an unknown het pairing that's only in the manga. sigh These two are in volume 5 for a little bit, and everything I know about them I translated myself, and especially as I can't read a lot of the kanji (and they don't have furigana), I may have gotten some parts wrong, so hopefully this actually works/makes sense/is right. I'm pretty sure it is though. Not that anyone even knows who they are, so no one will probably read this...
Mei wakes up to the sound of her cell phone beeping, and reaches over to the night table beside the bed that it is lying on. She flips it open and holds it up to her ear as she sits up, rubbing the sand out of her eyes and yawning a, "Hello?"
"Hi!" replies the familiar cheery voice, and she is instantly wide awake and attentive. It is Mimuro, and her heart begins to beat a little faster at just the thought of him. "You haven't forgotten our plans today, have you?"
"No," she answers. How could she possibly forget a meeting with Mimuro?
"Oh, good! Then I'll meet you at the usual restaurant. Bye!"
And before she can reply, the line is dead, and he's gone. With a sigh, she snaps the cover back over the phone and sets it down, before pulling back the warm covers and sliding out of bed. It is early afternoon - another late night has caused her to oversleep again - and they're scheduled to meet in a couple of hours. She can hardly wait.
She walks over to her dresser and opens one of the drawers, staring in at the clothes inside. For just a moment, she almost considers wearing a dress, but she quickly squashes that idea and pulls out a blazer and jeans instead. She will be going in boyish clothes once again.
She gets dressed and grabs her cap from its seat atop the dresser, walking over to stand in front of the full body mirror she has in her room. She stares in at herself, stares at the clothes she would rather exchange for something more girly and pretty, stares at the old worn hat in her hand, and asks herself why. Why she insists on pretending to be someone she is not, when it obviously doesn't do any good. Even if she's pretending as hard as she can, they both know the truth, and so what is the point? It's not like she's going to trick him into forgetting she's female, into thinking she's a boy, and even then, would he like her anyway? Maybe it's not her gender that is the problem, but just her. Mei.
Gathering her long hair in her hands, she piles it on top of her head, pulling the cap down over it and trapping it beneath with the skill that comes from long practice. She has been doing this for so long now that changing suddenly would just feel strange. Though she does wonder how he'd react, imaging it with a small smile.
Ready to go in her disguise, her fake self, she grabs her cell phone again and heads out of the room, shutting the door to her true life firmly behind her.
