A/N: This story works as both a stand alone and an epilogue piece for "Breathe", If you were interested in that. (Thanks again to everyone who was and reviewed, by the way!)
Also, I wanted to try to get a certain feel to it, so I experimented with only using pronouns. You know who I'm talking about, though…

Awakening
Sunlight shone down through the open window and cast it soft light into the room, sending waves of golden illumination splashing across the sheets. A gentle breeze wafted lazily in with it. It lightly toyed with a soft wisp of her hair, and she shivered a little and nestled closer to the man next to her.
He ran his hands down her back, comforting and warming.
She sighed, not wanting to ever have to move or rise. After all the shock and pain and horror that had been her life recently, here was one pure moment devoid of everything save the feel of his arms around her, promising safety and comfort and support. This seemed fitting in her mind. She should have known he would be her only point of stability in the world. But she had never guessed the magic that would spark from the simple touching of their bodies.
The sound of birds chirping filled the air, reminding her of the hour. It was time to fully awaken, she knew.
Her body stirring against his caused him to open his eyes. He tightened his arms around her frame and lay still, content to just watch her as she slowly came to awareness of the world around her.
Her eyes slowly blinked open. Crystal blue met deep hazel, melting together, sharing the moment between them.
She rolled onto her back, and he moved with her. He hovered over her for a moment, just gazing at her, before brushing her lips with his. Her eyes fluttered closed as she returned his kiss. It was soft and full of tenderness.
"Good morning," he whispered, his soft words mingling with the breeze.
She smiled as his breath tickled her cheek. "Good morning," she replied.
He shifted back to his own pillow, leaned back, and looked over at her. She sighed contentedly. She slowly reached out and interlaced their fingers, not wanting the contact to end.
Finally, it was time. They rose and moved to face the day. It would undoubtedly be nothing new, but for them it would be special. It represented the dawning of a new chapter in their lives. They were ready to meet the world with a newfound drive and determination. Together.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
One moment in time, began and ended without the knowledge of the world. No fanfare, just with the soft contentment of two wayward souls who had finally found a home. Insignificant in the big picture, maybe, but both knew that it was enough for them. They would hold this in the hearts, carry it with them, and draw it out when they were most in need of strength.
This one moment of peace and tranquility and love in lives of complete chaos.
Well, that was my first one-shot in what I hope to be a series of one-shots, some taking place after "Breathe", some during the series. I hope you will enjoy those.
Also, please review and let me know if you liked this one!
