Disclaimer: I own no rights to "Stargate SG-1" or anything of its universe. I also own no rights to "Sweet Baby" by Macy Gray. I do own the fluff of a plot that this story sits upon and that is all.
Author's Note: Just a little fluff.
Sam stepped out of the warm spray of her shower and into the cool air in her bathroom. She shivered slightly as she pulled a towel around her before closing the open window.
Middle of May and it was still raining. No snow at least. Sam reasoned as she quickly dried off and pulled on her flannel jammies.
She hummed softly to herself as she wrapped a towel around her head and walked into the bedroom. Raining on a Sunday, finished all of my reports, no possible interruptions perfect conditions.
Sam had a secret fetish of late. She'd managed to keep SG-1 from finding out and she hoped to keep it that way.
Making herself a cup of gourmet coffee, Sam set it softly on her living room table before going over to her desk and pulling out everything she needed.
Sitting in front of her couch, she opened the container and removed the pieces of paper, pictures, and glue. Cassie had started it; she'd come home for spring break and introduced Sam to the world of scrap booking.
She felt like a suburban mother admitting it aloud, so she'd been keeping it a secret and it had become a small fetish for her.
Hitting play on her CD player she went to work on the stack of photos she was trying to get through. They spanned a few years, various photos of barbeques with the team and birthday parties.
Moving through the photos she found a small smile on her face growing. Her feet tapped with the beat of Macy Gray's "Sweet Baby".
Many times I've been told that I should go but they don't know, what we got baby.
Sam laughed slightly, remembering how Janet told her to get a boyfriend after what hadn't happened between her and Jack for several years. Jack wasn't going anywhere and it wasn't like they could be together anyway. At least that's what the brunette had reasoned. She slowly rose to her feet, grabbing a candlestick to act as a microphone.
"Ummm sweet sweet baby, life is crazy, but there's one thing I am sure of. That I'm your lady, always baby, and I love you now and ever."
Sam danced around the living room unabashedly until there was a knock on her door. Pausing the stereo she went over and answered it to find no one there. She looked around until a single white rose with pink trim caught her eye on the doorstep.
Smiling she picked it up and brought it to her nose, just then her fingertips felt the small note that was attached by a ribbon.
She grinned as she read the bold block print that she'd seen a lot of lately:
Because I couldn't wait for tonight to say I love you.
J
Sam smelt the rose again as she smiled, "Sweet baby, life is crazy, but there's one thing I'm sure of."
She grinned and turned to go back into the house.
After Thought: There you have it. Now I want a rose signed by J!
