Fields of Gold

In the late afternoon, Sora was cleaning out her bookshelf when she uncovered a little scrapbook. Wondering what was in it, she began looking through the old scrapbook and realized that Tai had given it to her, when they were both in kindergarten.

The scrapbook was blue and covered with rainbow sequins, but it had faded out over the years and some of the sequins had fallen off of it.

As Sora went through the first several pages, her eyes caught sight of a little picture of herself and Tai.

She slowly removed the picture from the scrapbook and had a good look at it and then suddenly remembered when it was taken.

The picture showed Sora and Tai running against the wind and across a field of wild daffodils and it dated back when she and Tai were eight years old.

"Hey I'm starting remember what we did before that picture was taken." Sora said with surprise.

As she continued to stare at the photograph, she began to feel the cool summer breeze against her face.

oooo

"Come on Mom!" cried an eight-year old Sora tugging at her mother's arm, "Tai's mom told us to meet them at the park."

"Slow down Honey," said Mrs. Takenouchi calmly, "you can't rush on things you know."

As Sora and her mother walked on to their destination, Mrs. Kamiya and Tai had already gotten there first and were waiting for them.

Tai was growing really impatient waiting for Sora, until he saw her and Mrs. Takenouchi running up to meet him and his mother.

"Sora!" cried Tai, "I didn't think you'd make it!"

"Now that we're here, let's go play!" said Sora.

After playing a game of tag, Sora suggested that she and Tai could play in the flowers.

As they began to chase each other, Mrs. Takenouchi smiled as took out her camera and took a picture of them running in the afternoon sun.

When it was getting late, Mrs. Kamiya announced to Tai and Sora that they should be getting home.

Sora felt bad that Tai was leaving, but he told her that he might be able to see her tomorrow.

As she watched Tai and his mother walk back to their apartment, she knew in heart she would see him again.

oooo

After looking through the little old scrapbook, Sora put it on her desk and smiled because even though she liked Matt, she and Tai will always be best of friends.

The End
