A/N Nicely fixed... Hope you like
Cornelius Fudge had just made the second worst mistake of his career. The first being his refusals to accept Valdemort's return almost 3 years ago. In his usual smug condescending way he had just rejected Harry Potter's allegation that he had made a mistake.
"Harry, you and I have had our differences in the past, but surly you don't believe Snape was truly on Dumbeldors side."
"There was a time, Minister," he said resentfully, "when I would have questioned that but I trust Dumbeldor's judgment."
"With your reasoning Dumbeldor is incapable of being fooled," Fudge said now tired of the discussion, "I haven't time for this foolishness, good day Harry."
What he did not know was that his first choice for the International Magical Cooperation head of department was still quite upset over the death of the person in question and his mistake had renewed her grief.
Harry left the office outraged, so much so that he didn't notice Amber entering it. She didn't know of Harry's visit and was planning on simply talking to the Minister in the hopes of having it rectified. Already incensed by his previous visitor Fudge was not in the mood for a chat about his mistakes.
"Ah, Ms. Hursman, I presume you're here to accept my letter of invitation personally rather then by owl. It is that dependability that made me choose you for the position. All of this in spite of your, involvement with certain anti-ministry individuals," he said as she entered his office.
"Actually, Minister," she responded hiding her obvious annoyance at his tone, "I was about to inquire as to whom was responsible for the mix up in identifying Severus Snape as a Death Eater rather then his true role in helping the Order of the Phoenix?"
"Well," he said visibly reddening as he tried to keep his cool, "As I have just had to deal with this issue I think you can discuss this with your cohort can't you." His entire attitude had changed and she of curse had no idea what he was talking about my cohort? What is he going on about? She thought perplexed.
"I beg your pardon, but what are you talking about?" she asked genuinely confused.
"Don't give me that rubbish!" he said his voice raising, "You expect me to believe that you are not working with Harry Potter and wasting my time BECAUSE OF ONE NAME!" he positively shouted at her.
I should have known, Harry she thought everything was falling into place now, but Fudge wasn't done yet,
"And furthermore I will NOT change a thing! As far as I'm concerned there was NO mistake on my part, YOU were mistaken in HIM!" He then turned his back on her.
She left his office shaken; she had not foreseen anything like that happening. She; however, wasn't going to take this laying down. Mistaken in Severus; indeed, he is mistaken in me and in Harry, and especially in Dumbeldor.
Now positively seething with Fudge's closed-mindedness she was returning to Hogwarts. Here we won't be frivolously ignored. Not everyone is like Fudge she thought angrily as she walked along the forest path. Anxious to see her friends, and knowing they would be wondering where she was by now she sped up, unaware of a sinister plot ahead.
Concealed behind a tall tree a few yards away was one of the last remaining Death Eaters; Lucious Malfoy. He stepped onto the path when Amber was only feet from him. She stopped seconds before she would have run right into him. His typical deceitful contemptuous attitude was enough to make anyone irritated at the best of times; in her state it was infuriating.
"What do you want, Malfoy?" she asked pure hatred kindling in both her eyes and voice.
"Ah, such arrogance, typical Griffendor," he retorted a smirch crossing his face.
"You didn't answer my question!" she continued voice rising. Her wand was now in her hand.
"No need for violence," he said a malevolent gleam in his eyes.
"As I understand it there is!" said a voice its owner emerging from the trees. She passively put her wand away trusting the person she saw. Reamus Lupin strode over to them. He placed himself between them and glared at Lucious.
"Pity," said Lucious, " you apparently aren't missing Severus too much."
Both implied statements shocked her. She had no reply, because simply she hadn't thought of either of them in that since. Sure; she had developed a crush on Severus during the cores of the war, but... no nothing beyond that.
Reamus was not at all pleased but could do nothing as Lucious disaporated a moment later. He turned to ask what she'd been doing in the forest, and ask if she was all right.
"Look out!"They turned to see someone running at them. Then from behind Reamus a voice shouted...
