Hardest Decision Chapter 2.
Grissom sat in the hospital waiting room shaking in shock and praying for the lives of his beautiful wife and the unborn child they had tried so long to desperately conceive. Grissom was not normally a religious man but he felt he had to do something, he felt useless just sitting their staring at the depressing white walls. His normally crystal blue eyes were now red and were beginning to well up in tears, his dark hair caked in blood from the large gash on his forehead, now bandaged with white gauze, caused by the shattered windscreen, his hands washed clean now of both his own blood and that of his wife. Blood there was so much of it, he wondered if it was possible for anyone to survive after losing that much.
"Gil …" he looked up to see who had made the soft choking sound, approaching him was Catherine and behind her stood Nick and Warrick. He approached the strawberry blonde haired woman and she couldn't help but tear up at the sight of her friend's cut and bruised face.
"Sara?" Nick asked barley audible. Grissom knew how much his wife and Nick meant to each other, they were practically brother and sister, it used to pain him to see how close they were, of course that was before he worked up enough courage and finally admitted his feelings for Sara. Now it comforted him that Nick was there with him but it also hurt Grissom to see the pain in the younger man's eyes.
"She's in surgery… there was so much blood… too much…" Nobody knew the right words to say at that moment so the four close friends just stood their in silence until it was broken by the sound of an unfamiliar voice.
"Mr Grissom?" Gil spun around and found himself face to face with a female doctor
"My wife… is she alright? What about our baby? Will they both live?" his face paled as he saw the sombre expression on the scrub clad surgeon.
"Mr Grissom, I think you should sit down, there's something I need to tell you…"
