Jennifer Scotts, one of the few great-grandchildren of Jason Scott, was walking around her room, making everything perfect. Her roommate, Trip Regis, was on his bed reading a book.
Jennifer fumed as she tried to reach the top shelf of the bookcase to put her book up there. Trip looked up at her.
"Jennifer, would you like some help?" Trip asked. She sighed.
"Sure," she shrugged. Trip used his telekinetics to lift the book onto the top shelf.
"Whoa! I thought I only had superpowers!" Jennifer exclaimed.
"You have superpowers too?" he questioned.
"Yeah, lasers outta the eyes," she shrugged. "It's stupid compared to yours."
"Yours sounds awesome!" Trip assured.
A silence soon drifted in the room and Jennifer filled it, "Listen, Trip..." She walked over to the window and saw her goal, Alex Drake, outside with his friends. "I've pushed my whole life into doing what I'm doing. I'm going to the top, and no one, I repeat, no one, is going to mess this up for me. My parents are forcing me into the group that Alex Drake hangs out with. I don't want to, but they want me to. I'm doing as they wish and you can't get in my way." She looked back at him. Completely hurt by what she just said, he lay back on his bed and nodded quietly.
Jennifer grabbed her sweater and left the room. Trip decided it best not to ask. Jennifer climbed a tree and sat up there for hours, crying quietly as the day turned to evening, then night.
