Disclaimer: I do not own Yu Gi Oh!. I've been locked in a closet once before for trying to say that I did, and that wasn't any fun…
A/N: Wow... A poem? Where did that come from? Poetry's not really my forte, so go easy on me, 'kay?
Special thanks to Caorann fridh Brónach for telling me how to get the stanzas to look right!
He thinks I cannot see
Everything he's done for me
All the fates he has defied
All the scars he tries to hide
All the pain he keeps inside
He thinks it's such a secret
And he'd do anything to keep it
That way
But I already know
That the mask he always shows
Is just to guard him from his foes
He told me once on Fathers' Day
Which we had turned to Brothers' Day
That he would give everything
To help me find my way
But I know he has nothing left
He swore to me once
So long ago
That suffering
I would never know
That he'd protect me from the pain
And hide me from the shame
Of living a life that others scorned
Almost alone in this bleak world
And he never gave up
And he never gave in
But he did give it all
For me
His burden soon grew heavy
Under a tyrant's rule
And his soul cried out
While he eyes ran with tears
As he stood up to his fears
And he put on the mask
Wore it like his own
To prove that he was strong
He stopped his tears
And defeated his fears
But the damage was done
His soul was scarred
His heart was marred
His mind was barred
To the world outside
It's all a lie
No one can know him
And no one can see
How he's hurting inside
But me
I'm grateful for all he's done
For he's the only one
To understand what it's like
And for every blow he ever took
So that I would never look
On life
With bitterness in my heart
And it's time that I stepped in
And proved that we can win
To free him from the sins
He was forced to commit
He asked me once on Mother's Day
Exactly what would Mother say
If she could see him now?
I told him she'd be proud
