It was so dark in the place that he existed. A place of loneliness, this place where all his memories were filled with his long dead clan, and a brother that had slaughtered them all. That room was locked up now, it was filled with a pain that went to his soul. The bloodstains on the floor reminding him of that night that he lost everything that was dear to him. This place was empty now; all that filled it were ghosts and the single person that lived there. He could escape the darkness of this place, but it was no where he belonged. I reminded him everyday of the goal that he strived for, the man that he desired to kill.

How he wished that there would be no reason to stay in the village. After that man killed them, there wasn't one. But then he had met the fox. The fox that shined so brightly on the outside, but was so lonely on the inside.

He should have known that the fox would keep him from achieving his goal. Meeting another person that had faced the darkness had brought him relief. To know that he was not the only one that was alone. For so long he had distanced himself, staying cold to the fox, but he couldn't keep himself from thinking that the fox had become one of his greatest friends. The only friend that he had.

The fox saw beyond his clan name, and realized that the boy was his own person. The boy and the fox longed for acknowledgment from each other, but neither would give in. The boy was too proud to see the fox as an equal, and the fox was afraid to see another person turn him away.

But the boy broke away, betraying the place that he had called home for almost 13 years. He left the dark place that he existed, only to plunge even deeper into a world of hate and killing. Power was what he sought, and he would obtain it at any price. He was willing to give his body to the person that sought to destroy his home, and steal the secrets of his clan.

The fox tried to save him, but to no avail, the boy was lost to a curse that would slowly kill him. Whether it was a beginning or and end of a story was lost upon them. To the fox, it was the end of something. The end of a fragile trust. The fox had trusted him to stay, to save him from the hell that was the fox's life. To the boy it was the beginning of his rise of power. That was what mattered the most to him. Rising to a level where he would be able to kill that man. Perhaps he wondered at times what would have happened to him had he stayed. It was a path that he would never know, for he had started on the descent to hell. And getting to hell is easy, it's getting out that's troublesome.
