How is everyone doing? Great I hope. Okay well I'm glad most of you liked me moving the gang to high school. If you didn't please stick with me. It will be worth it. I'm sorry if I left some of you confused, but eventually everything will be cleared up. How did you guys think of Helga's point of view in the last chapter?
Disclaimer: I do not own Hey Arnold! and never will.
Thanks to those who have reviewed.
Estel fuga- That's a beautiful thing they told you and it is so true. I agree love is a difficult thing, and it does not always work out. Sometimes the heart needs a reality check from the mind and that is what keeps happening to Helga. If you remember in the last chapter Helga was not at the party for Lila's welcoming home. So, she does not even know Lila has returned to Hillwood. Your joke was cute, a tad bit corny, but cute. :) I haven't had time to check out your story yet, but I promise I will. I'm sure it's fantastic, though. Thank you so much for the review and I happy you like the changes that have happened in the story.
boiluver7- Yeah I'm lazy like that too, but its okay. What other stories do you read? Anyway thanks for coming back to read my fic and it's great you liked it.
RuffMaster- Yep, I wonder how Brainy will react when Helga tells him. I hope you like this chapter. It had been very difficult for me to get this story to be told in my words, but I think I accomplished it. I'm beginning to feel good about the results. Thank you for noticing the effort. I'll be sure to check out your story in the near future when I find the time between homework. Take care.
PopStarOE- I redid the last chapter just for you. :) I'm trying to make every character sound like their own personality. I'm ecstatic you enjoyed the revisions. I'm also ecstatic you liked this chapter. I think I liked it too. The whole scene with Arnold did make me feel sad for him. I wanted so much to describe his emotions better, but I couldn't because that part was coming from Helga's point of view. I've read your story and everything is sound great.
Ms. Frosty- Hmm… have you read chapter 8? I'm glad you don't mind being confused because I think that is what this whole story about; the confusion of love between two torn hearts. In the end everything will be revealed and should be understood. If anything pacific is confusing you please tell me and I'll do my best to explain it. What did you think of me jumping the gang to high school?
Queen Artemis- It was so emotional it made you cry? That's great! I mean it's not great you cried, but it's great the chapter got to you so much. That is definitely what I strive for as the author of this story. Thank you so much for reviewing.
Miah The Storm Wolf- LOL! Is that good for it to sound like a soap opera? Yeah I guess it does kind of sound that way though, but I hope you like the way its going. Please give me any suggestions. How is your story going? I've been waiting for you to update "While You Were Gone."
Tinánia Legolinde- That's awful your mom made you take down all you Orlando Bloom posters. Why? Where are you going to keep them now? I would cry hysterically if that happened to me. I'm glad the last chapter wasn't confusing. I always worry about that stuff. I'm happy about what you said about my story. I try not to make it sound choppy. Okay, so wait. If you get you're GED at the tenth grade you're completely done with high school. That's so interesting. I want to be home schooled. That's great you want to go to Juliard. After seeing "Save the Last Dance" I wanted to apply there. Saturday is my cleaning day too, and I'm replying to your review on a Saturday. Thanks for reviewing again.
J.T.- Thank you so much. That is exactly what I'm talking about. You can love someone your whole life, but not actually be in love with that person. I'm ecstatic that you know what I mean. Again, thank you for the review.
Chapter 8: Lost Emotions
Muted, Arnold walked to P.S. 120 in a lonely state of mind ready to encounter another school day filled with denial. But today it would be different. Today he would have someone to comfort his forlorn even if he did not necessarily seek it. Events of last night continued to recreate themselves in his mind, unable to entrust him with gratifying peace. Why did I say yes to Lila? He had difficulty as he attempted to understand why he answered Lila the way he had.
"I don't even like Lila like that," he muttered as an artic chill clouted his face, "Everything just happened so fast."
Around him, Arnold observed how lifeless everything appeared from winter securing its presence. To the side of the sidewalk maple trees stood motionless not bothered by the forceful wind. Above him charcoal clouds sat heavy with fresh snow and in the atmosphere an icy chill broke out constantly causing Arnold to wish he had asked Lila for the render of his coat. Everything is so still, no cars, no people, no sounds-
"Hi sweetie," a dulcet voice spoke from behind Arnold. Two arms enfolded his waist clasping him firmly.
"Wha- Who is that?" Arnold inquired showing alarm when he skipped a step.
"Who do you think?" the voice whispered smoothly tickling Arnold's ear.
"Uh…?" Arnold felt perplexed as he unfastened the binding of the mysterious voice's arms, "Why don't you tell me?"
"It's your ever so cute girlfriend."
"Lila?" Arnold questioned shutting his eyes not desiring to hear the answer.
"Why, of course silly," she replied stepping to the side of him, "Aren't you oh so ecstatic to see me? I'm oh so ecstatic to see you."
"Umm… sure I am," his words distilled sarcasm, but she didn't seem to care. Intertwining her delicate fingers into his she summoned him to walk in stride with her.
"I missed you," Lila said hindering the awkward silence between them.
"Yeah, that's really nice Lila, but I need to tell you something," Arnold started. This arrangement induced him to feel distressed. It wasn't working out. All it would be is a lie.
"What's ever so wrong? Did I do something?" Immediately, she halted their pace. Tribulation piled into her soft features.
"No, not at all. I just wanted to say how great I think it is we're together." After seeing the despair in her face, Arnold knew he could not tell Lila the truth.
"Oh," happiness quickly reshaped her face enlightening it, "I think it is ever so great too." Tugging on his hand they rekindled their saunter to P.S. 120.

Lingering at her locker, Helga watched anxiously through the crowd of students for the arrival of her beloved. For the first time in more than six months her beloved didn't materialize into Brainy. Compacted in her right hand her locket waited patiently for showing. What will I tell him? she thought nervously referring to Arnold. During the morning contemplation of Brainy had not elapsed in her mind; after thinking of this, guilt sealed the linings of her engrossed stomach. How can I be so thoughtless when he has loved me for so long? I need to be gentle when I tell him.
"Greetings Helga," Phoebe said.
"Huh? Oh, hey Pheebs," Helga replied moving slightly to allow Phoebe access to her locker.
Kneeling down, Phoebe retrieved her science book and then rose to stand beside the flustered blonde.
"What are you waiting for?" Phoebe inquired only to have silence answer her. Helga was not listening, instead she stared forward, "Helga," silence again, "Helga!"
"What?!" Indignation flared Helga's eyes as she looked down at her friend.
"I asked you what you're waiting for." Converting her finger to her walnut colored eye Phoebe adjusted her contact. I despise wearing these oppressing contraptions. Seldom did she wear contacts, but this morning she could not locate her glasses.
"I'm not waiting for anything. Does it look like I'm waiting for someone?" Anger began emerging in Helga voice.
"Someone?" Raising her ebony eyebrow Phoebe passed a peculiar glance at Helga.
"I meant anything."
"Of course, Helga."
"Crimeny, Phoebe! I can't take this right now. What time is it?"
"Almost ten minutes till the bell. But Helga-"
"I have to go." Shoving through the crowd Helga disappeared before Phoebe could finish.
"Oh my," Phoebe elevated her hand to her lips attempting to mask the concerned frown upon them.

Trekking to the barren classroom of her first period class Helga still held onto her locket tightly. Talking to anyone proved impossible for her. If I can't talk to my best friend, how am I going to break up with Brainy and tell Arnold I love him all in the same day? Ache wreaked her punished heart. So many doubts were now expressing themselves. Brainy has played such a big part in my life. This is going to hurt him so much. Stepping into the room she felt a sense of relief at the empty desks. Helga needed a moment to clear her thoughts, they were becoming to overwhelming to partake. Near the back Helga relaxed into an aged desk and placed her obtrusive head in her hands.

Waiting outside his first period class Brainy felt curious as to where Helga could be. They were supposed to meet in the library this morning, but she never proffered. I…hope she's…okay, he wheezed softly. Desperately, he craved to cradle her body in his embracing arms, to know she was still there, and to see that everything was still okay. Bowing his weightless head Brainy prayed no one would see the fear obstructing his eyes. He turned towards the open door feeling ease overcome him when he spotted a familiar girl seated inside.
"Helga!" Closing the door behind him Brainy bounded to her listless body wanting to enclose himself around her.
Unhurried, Helga peered between her fingers which still detained the locket. Oh, no I'm not ready to tell him yet. Glancing away Helga quickly returned her eyes to him. This is not the time to be scared. Come on Helga, you can do this; just tell him how you feel.
"Hey," she forced the words from her curled lips.
"Where…were you?" Brainy inquired resting into the rigid desk in front of her. Suspicious of a problem, he stared at her closely.
"What are you talking about?" she asked removing her hands to restitute his unyielding gaze.
"You were supposed to meet me in the library. Did you forget?" Grabbing her hand he laid a swift kiss upon them. Endeavored, Helga tried to pull it away quickly, but she attested slowly. The locket that had based itself in her palm all morning fell onto the desk, popping ajar to expose the disclosed image of Arnold to Brainy's eyes.
"Is this…(wheeze)…what I…think it is," Brainy recognized the locket from the years ago when he used to pursue Helga as she bestowed her hidden soul it's open case.
"Yeah, it is. Brainy don't be mad. I didn't want you to find out this way," Helga shifted her shaking fingers to his shoulder, but his body sunk from her touch.
"Are…you cheating…on me? Have…(cough)…you been…seeing him…behind…my back?"
"What do you take me for, Bucko? I would never do that!"
"Then…why do…you have his…picture," Brainy's words departed from his mouth slowly. I can't…believe this. Rising from his seat he condemned the desk at his side with a powerful kick.
"Calm down Brainy!" Standing, Helga felt a remote timidity at his outburst. I didn't want this to happen.
"Why Helga?! I…don't understand," he moved to her, his eyes glazed with fury.
"Brainy, I am so sorry. I didn't want to tell you this way." Sticking out her hands in front of her, Helga shielded her body from the possible violent outcome of her words.
"Tell me what?" Brainy's voice depressed as he inched closer to her hovering frame.
"I don't love you Brainy. I thought I did, but I didn't. And for that I am truly sorry because I not only lied to myself, but I lied to you," Helga stepped backwards yearning to run away from him. Why hasn't the bell rang yet? Frantic thoughts wavered through her head.
Hoisting the locket from the disassembled desk Brainy hurdled it at the wall. Helga watched the locket disintegrate as it punctured the solid brick. Then, Brainy stepped towards her and lifted his buoyant arm-
Bring!
Sighing at the sound of the bell Helga descended to the tiled floor. Steadily, gaudy students began walking into the classroom searching for places to sit. Gazing down Brainy assisted Helga off the ground attempting to make things between them appear normal to their classmates.
"Are…you okay?" Inside Brainy the anger had subsided causing him to regret his choice of actions towards her.
"It's over, get away from me!" Thrusting Brainy into the wall Helga ran out of the classroom. In disbelief, everyone in the room quieted to stare at Brainy who held his arm in agonizing pain.
A/N: Did everyone understand everything? If not I'd be happy to answer any questions. In the next chapter I'll be explaining some things. So, this chapter was supposed to leave some confusion. Tell me what you think of Brainy. I didn't know how that would come out, but I kind of like it. It's a whole new side to him. Don't worry about Helga. She's tough, she'll be okay. Well alright, leave me a review. Tell me anything. Thanks.
