Like Sky and Earth and Him

The feel of ground under my feet

It will always be there

A 'common ground', literally

Something we all share

All existing on one earth

We might be miles apart

But here we stand, on like ground

Earth with no end or start

We are in two different places

Doing different things

But every night we listen

As the evening sings

We are on opposite ends of the world

But look up at every star, every cloud

Under the same sky, touching on same ground

The two things were peacefulness shouts loud

War is raging here and there

People talking, fighting- chaos ruling

Trying to resolve the problems

They're really actually fueling

But no matter what's going on

The sky and earth are always there

Heaven overhead, ground underfoot

As solid as believers' prayer

Just like God, predictable

They won't move or budge

Like God's love, never failing

Somewhat a holy nudge

When you walk you trust

Ground not to fall away

When you look up at the sky

It's constant, like the day

Why can't we trust our God

Just like we trust the earth?

It was easy to trust our mother

From the moment of our birth

But we can't live our lives for God

Because we're not so able

To stand strong like sky or soil

We're really not that stable

It's really no wonder at all

Why God created them

We need something to hold onto

Like sky; like earth; like Him
