Okay, I am back! This chapter has a different perspective in it and I hope you enjoy it.

Disclaimer: I do not own Hey Arnold!

Thanks to all those who have reviewed:

Beloved- Oh, I like your screen name. LOL. I don't know what will happen. I'm still thinking about it.  And I don't think I've even come close to making a decision. :) Oh well, thanks for the review.

J.T.- LOL. Yeah, I love to hear suggestions from readers. I like to be able to say that my writing has improved.  Thanks, the past few chapters I have been working pacifically on what you and other readers have told me about my writing.  I kind of already knew what I was doing; I just continued to do it anyway. :) Still, I'm working really hard to improve even more.  By the end of this story I want to be able to see a huge difference in my writing from the first chapter and the second chapter.  I'm glad you got the concept and that you were able to read into what I was trying to get a cross to the reader.  The words soul and mate are extremely powerful separately.  And when put together such as Helga and Arnold or Phil and Gertie they become a life forming wall of lave and emotion.  I agree, Helga needs to find herself first. That is why I started the idea of her having a conflict with herself a few chapters back. Ultimately, I think that will decide the end of this story.  Maybe she will wake up, but I don't think she is yet ready.  That's probably why, LOL. :) I love your reviews, so thanks for writing me another one.

Bosa nova88- I love to hear that type of reaction for my story.  I'm excited too because I have no idea what will take place in the next chapter. :) It will be something good, I promise.  Yeah, they do. Thanks for the review.

RuffMaster- Hey, thanks for the emails.  Thanks for noticing the work I've put into their emotions.  But it's kind of easy for me to do sometimes. I just think of what they would say or how I would feel in their situations.  And besides, it's fun to write it all together.  I have no idea what will happen with Helga and Arnold. :) I have an idea of what I want to do, but I don't know.  I'm really undecided.  Hopefully, everything will come together n the end. :)  The whole length thing is a funny subject with me, but I understand where you mean.  Thanks for comments and encouragement.

Ms Frosty- I know, I know. I did update faster, but it was just because this chapter I knew would take me long time to write and upload.  Thank you. :) I absolutely loved writing Arnold's talk with his grandmother. It was so much fun to think of how she would respond. Like Arnold always talks with his grandpa. I thought it would be cute for him to get a perspective from someone new.  I'm glad confusing is good to you. LOL. I promise by end of this story you will be even more confused. :) Thanks for the review.

Estel fuga- Yeah, my old screen name sounded a little funny to me. So, I thought I just make up a whole new one. I like CmarieL much better.  Tu? :) I know, but at least in that transition chapter I put some new characters in the story. My story is beginning to wind down.  Hopefully, in about five or six chapters it will be finished.  I might be wrong, though. It could go to thirty chapters since I make it up as I go along. :) What will Helga and Arnold do? Will they ever find each other? I'm not sure. LOL. Brainy will definitely create some more difficult for Helga and Arnold? He could even stop them from coming together.  I could be wrong. I have no idea. :) Thank you so much for your review. And I want an update with your story, pronto! Hugs and more encouragement for your story too!

Tinánia Legolinde- That sounds like fun. Again, I'm just dandy! LOL. I still love that word. I'm glad you liked them. The last chapter was a lot of fun to write. I see the dilemma coming up too. I just don't know what it is yet. :) LOL. It's just dandy to hear that you're dandy too.  Really? Your room is clean? Yay! Yep, I cleaned my room too. Can't you hang the posters on your closet walls? That's cool about the pin and hat. I wonder where your mom is getting her suspicions from. :) LoL. Jeremy has awesome eyes. He's really only fifteen. That's great he's my age! :) When's his b-day? He almost doesn't look that old in Peter Pan. Ugh, I hated the ending to that movie. I loved the actual movie; I just couldn't stand the plot. He should have stayed. Okay, I'm done.  I haven't gone yet, but I will. That's funny that you have a screen name professing your love for Orlando Bloom on a Jeremy Sumpter fansite. LOL. Thank you, I like it too. I think it sounds better.  Anyways, Love ya and thanks for the review!

DarthRoden- Oh, thank you so much. I love to hear that. There are a lot of emotions that I'm hoping my readers can relate to.  I'm so ecstatic you think so and I feel the same way towards your pieces. They're all fantastic! I really like your new one!

Inferna- I'm glad you like the whole waiting concept.  And about Arnold kissing Helga so abruptly, I wanted to feel that way.  In that situation Arnold was feeling so much emotion he could not help but move on Helga.  In a way that is some of my personality coming through; I am such a romantic when it come to stuff like that.  I thought it would be really cute for Arnold to do that to her. :) But anyway thanks for your review.

Chapter 18: Deserving Fool

Her heart had been trampled.  She had not thought she felt such a powerful love for him, but she was clearly wrong.  He was the mystery man she had dreamt about so many times before.  She longed for him to stand by her side once more.  If she could just have another chance, she would prove she was worthy of his love.  Before, he had not granted her with enough time.  But even with more time she knew she could never win him back.  His heart belonged to another.

"It's just not ever so fair," Lila whimpered from her bed as she stared at the ceiling with melancholy sabotaging her sanity.  This seemed to be a constant pattern evolving with her.  Somehow her heart would be led on some wild journey of love by some entrancing young man only to have him stop the journey before it ever truly began.

"I'm tired of this always happening to me," Lila sighed deeply, rising to a sitting position as her eyes adjusted to the darkness of the room.  Already dawn had come allowing a faint light to enter the space through the window.  This meant she had to restart the most tiring routine of getting ready for school.  As of now, school was the furthest thing from her mind as she did not want to go.  She could not bear to see Arnold achieve in his attempts at capturing Helga when he should be trying to retrieve Lila. Oh, I just don't ever so understand. Just what does he see in Helga?

Gingerly, Lila forced her legs over the bed's side and stood slowly.  She would have to go to school.  Staying at home would only be proof that her problems were too massive for her to face.  It would only be a short hide away for a short time.

So, with much reluctance Lila walked from her room, down the narrow hallway, and into the bathroom shutting the mint green door behind her.  No more than thirty minutes later she opened door, allowing steam to escape from within.  Wrapped in an oversized green towel Lila returned to her room.  She felt slightly rejuvenated and more capable of thoughts as she searched her closet for something to wear.  It had to be perfect; she had to appear impeccable on the outside.  No way could she allow Arnold to see her as such a wreck without him.  After all, she had been the one who had conferred him with the permission to leave their relationship.  She could have chosen to ignore that pleading look in his eyes, but she had not.  And now, even though she was suffering without him, she had to present to the public she could care less that Arnold had abandoned her.

"This is ever so perfect," Lila smiled as she took an emerald turtleneck from its hanger and laid it across her arm.  Then, she averted her attention to the other side of the closet.  Another satisfied grin spread across her face as she lifted a knee length, white skirt from a low shelf.  Then, from the floor she clutched a pair of brown sandals that had a slight heel.  Tightening her grip on her selections, she walked back to her bed to change.

Ten minutes later Lila opened her bedroom door appearing quite lovely in green.  Everything had come together perfectly as it always should for her.  Perfection was the only thing she deserved and anything less was a disappointment.  She would not accept it.  It was a disappointment Arnold had left her. So, she could not dwell on that situation, but refuse to accept the truth for what it was.

"When he sees me, he'll forget all about Helga," Lila whispered pleasantly as she stared at her vibrant reflection in the hallway mirror.  Suddenly, she felt an overwhelming intuition that everything would work out.

"Lila!" her father's voice interrupted Lila's admiration at herself.  Quickly,  she brushed a crinkle from her skirt and continued walking down the hall towards the bellow of her father.

"Lila! Are you up?!"

"Of course, Daddy," Lila chimed as she entered the kitchen.

"There you are, pumpkin," her father greeted, taking another sip from his coffee mug.  Then, he leaned back into his chair, his excess weight following shortly after.

"Good morning," Lila said, stepping to her father's side, granting him with a quick peck on his forehead.

"Did you sleep well?" he asked, noticing an even more cheerful gleam in her dancing green eyes than usual.

"I suppose it was an ever so peaceful sleep," Lila answered, moving to the counter to pick up her school books.

"Aren't you going to eat breakfast?" her father's bushy brows frowned as he watched Lila walk from the kitchen without a meal digesting in her stomach.

"For some oh so special reason, daddy, I'm too nervous to eat.  And besides I'm already running ever so late for the bus," she called back to him as she reached the front door.

"Okay, pumpkin, if you're sure you don't want me to fix you something," he yelled after her.

"I'm ever so positive, Daddy," Lila responded before she opened the door.

"Alright…bye," he responded, hesitation lined his voice.

"Bye Daddy!" Lila responded as she opened the door and closed it quickly behind her before her father could say another word.

Remaining in the kitchen, puzzlement upset Roy's soft features.  He wondered what Lila, his only daughter, could possibly be up to without his knowing.  There was no way she could be late for the bus.  Seven thirty had just passed and the bus did not come until eight.  I hope she's okay.  Lila was the only thing left he had in this cruel world that had stolen his wife from him years earlier. Being it this way he and she depended on one another. Or at least he depended on her.

Savoring another sip of his coffee, Roy stood patting his enormous belly wearily.  Worry for Lila subsided as he realized he was running late for work.  Pacing hurriedly from the kitchen, he headed to his room to shower.

………………………………….

Lila had no idea as to what she would say to Arnold.  She prayed her appearance would speak more than words ever could.  But what if it doesn't?  The same doubt surfaced in her mind at the thought of Arnold's love proving so intense for Helga that he would not even notice her.  Maybe her appearance wouldn't be enough.  If that scenario did take place, she would just have to think of another plan.  There has to be some way to pull Arnold away from Helga.  Lila quit walking abruptly.  Another fresh idea had popped into her head. Or maybe there is a way I can pull Helga away from Arnold.  A smile crossed Lila's face as she continued to ponder the idea.  The bus would serve no purpose for her this morning.  Instead, continuing to walk would do more aid for her as she attempted to develop this new idea.

…………………………………

Calling to his mom good-bye, Brainy hurried out the front door not pausing to wait for her response.  I'm already late for the bus.  This morning he had overslept.  Last night he had been restless, tossing and turning throughout.  When would his mind be able to forget Helga?  When would he have rest from all the pain he endured?

When he arrived at school, he wanted more than anything to see her, to hold her in his arms.  He had to see her.  But his stomach lurched forward at the thought of Arnold around her.  If he did encounter that, whatever left in his heart would surely vanish.  Of course, he would feel anger, but he felt too exhausted to experience anger anymore.  If Helga felt love for Arnold, Brainy could not stop that.  His limbs were too weary to fight, his mind too troubled, and his heart too heavy with rejection.

Abiding to his walk down the sidewalk, Brainy peered up at the faint sound of his bus's engine.  The noise was traveling away from him instead of to.  He had missed the bus.  Brainy halted his walk.  Why did so many bad things happen to him?  It seemed as if fate possessed a particular interest in making his life miserable.  Shaking his head in a depressed manner, Brainy resumed his walk.  Now, he would most definitely be late for school no matter how much he quickened his pace.  But now he did not care.  It did not matter to him any more because now no one else cared if he showed up tardy or not.  Without Helga, his life was lonely.  Brainy breathed out a distressed sigh in the chilled air and pressed on to school.

………………………….

"Let's see, what could I ever so do to get Helga away from Arnold?" Lila asked herself.  Thinking for a moment, she conceived she had no idea as to what could be done. Giving up would not be done so easily.  I have to think.  As if her thinking was answered, Lila heeded the sound of wheezing.  Glancing across the street, she saw Brainy.  Of course! I'm ever so certain that's it.  Envy would boil through Helga's veins when she witnessed Lila draping herself all over Brainy.

Smiling proudly at her credible plan, Lila felt another sudden sensation that everything would fix itself.  Still, questions slipped through the cracks of celebration in her mind.  When could she do this? And how? Should she call out to him now?

Finally, after a long series of queries Lila decided waiting was not an option.  With Helga and Arnold possibly on the verge of escalating to another level of intimacy, she had to do whatever she could to correct the issue as soon as possible.

"Oh Brainy!" Lila yelled after him from across the street.

Gazing up from his grey view of the sidewalk, Brainy wondered who would call out to him.  But then he saw Lila waving at him.  Lila, one of the prettiest girls at P. S. 120, was waving at him.  He could not believe it.  What…does…she want…with…me? Concludingit as a misunderstanding of whose name she was calling, Brainy resumed his walk with a faster speed.

Immediately, Lila stopped walking and peered at Brainy's back quizzically.  Why would he ignore her in such a rude manner?  She would not take that.  She would force him to talk to her.  Turning her eyes left and then right, Lila hurried across the street barely dodging a puddle of water lying in the street.  Remembering the fragile condition of her shoes, she slowed her pace.

"Brainy! Oh, Brainy, please wait!" Lila pleaded.

Brainy turned around and watched incredulously as Lila ran to catch up with him.  He did not understand.  Had he accomplished in making her upset without his knowing?

His face looks ever so stunned, Lila thought with slight satisfaction.  Her pace transferred to a steady walk now that Brainy had stopped.

Coming to stand in front of him, Lila stared at Brainy curiously.  The cement was penetrated by his timid gaze; his back slouched at an uncomfortable, and in his pockets his hands clung nervously on to his pant's fabric.  No confidence radiated from him.  Instead he looked much like a shy child who did not desire to meet a stranger.

"Are you okay, Brainy?" Lila inquired, innocence implied on her face.

For a response Brainy nodded his head speedily and then quickly peered down again.  Moving his eyes to encounter hers directly was not a valid option for him.

"Well good, then," Lila answered, taking a step forward and then turned around to meet him again, "I suppose you are ever so wondering why I asked you to wait."

Again, Brainy nodded his head in reply.

Rotating around, Lila walked forward.  With a reluctant shrug, Brainy followed.

Without moving her attention back to him, Lila began to speak.  "Well, you see, I was feeling ever so lonesome without someone to talk to while I was walking to school just a few minutes ago.  And then I saw you and I thought you looked ever so lonesome too.  So, I thought we could be ever so lonesome together."  Slowing, Lila allowed Brainy to catch up with her and then she turned to see the response on his face.  His features twisted into an expression of amazement and bewilderment.

"Really?" Brainy choked.

"I'm ever so certain yes."

A deep red flushed Brainy's cheeks.  Only Helga had caused him to feel so deserving of attention.  It was unbelievable how quickly things could change.

Lila grinned at his excitement.  This steady conversation would eventually lead to more.  By first period she would have Brainy perfectly twined around her perfect finger.

A/N: Okay, I know, I know, it took me a long idea to write this chapter, but I had writer's block.  I had no idea what I wanted to do.  So, I'm sorry for not updating faster and hopefully the next chapter will not take so long.  Reviews are most definitely appreciated.  Thanks.
