Just a Thought
The day was like any other. The four members of the Sanzo-ikkou rode along on Hakuryu towards the next town. A band of youkai sent by Kougaiji came out of nowhere and told them to prepare to die. Fighting ensued, ending with the total annihilation of the youkai band. The Sanzo-ikkou continued on their merry way towards town.
"Hey, I've been thinking," Goku said from the back of the Jeep.
"So it is possible," Gojyo mused, a smirk on his face.
"Urusai, ero kappa! I'm being serious." Goku was getting tired of everyone undermining him, especially Gojyo.
"And you think I wasn't, baka saru?" Gojyo was not about to back down from an opportunity to tease the monkey.
A fight immediately followed, just like any other day.
"Urusai! Do you two really want to die?" Sanzo emphasized his point by shooting off a round of bullets into the air.
Yup, just like any other day.
After everyone finally quieted down, Hakkai asked, "Goku, what have you been thinking?"
"Hm? Oh!" Goku had almost forgotten what caused the fight in the first place. "I was thinking how Koukaiji wants to resurrect Gyumaoh, right?"
"Well, he certainly isn't opposed to the idea," answered Hakkai.
"And we're traveling west to stop him, right?" Goku continued.
"Duh." That answer came from Gojyo.
"And we've been traveling for months and months trying to get there, right?"
The sound of Sanzo's harisen connecting with Goku head resonated from the Jeep.
"Get to the point!" Sanzo's patience was being tested…just like any other day.
Goku rubbed the throbbing spot on his head and asked, "How come it's taking us so long to get to Kougaiji when he can get to us so easily?"
Silence filled the Jeep.
"The baka has a point," Gojyo admitted.
"Thanks," Goku said, smiling. A brief pause. "Hey!"
Gojyo simply grinned.
"Can't Kougaiji teleport or something similar to it?" Hakkai inquired.
Sanzo shook his head. "He only did that once."
"Oh, that's right," Hakkai agreed, "He rides a flying dragon now."
"You think the dragons can fly that fast?" Goku asked.
"No, we've definitely seen them fly before and they seem to go at a normal speed," Hakkai said.
"Well, we pretty much know that Kougaiji's working for someone, right?" Gojyo interjected, "Maybe his boss teleports him."
"Then what's the point of using a dragon?" Sanzo asked as he took out a cigarette.
"Maybe the dragons can teleport." Since Goku started the conversation, he wanted to get his input in as well.
"Baka." Sanzo lit up the cigarette.
"It's a possibility, but I've never heard of dragons that can teleport before," said Hakkai.
Again, the Jeep fell into silence as everyone thought about the mystery.
"A plothole?" Gojyo suggested.
Hakkai nodded in agreement. "A plothole."
"Either that," Sanzo said, "or the next time we see Kougaiji, we're stealing his dragon."
Author's note: I've only seen Saiyuki and the first 20 episodes of RELOAD so if this issue was mentioned later on, I don't know about it. Incidentally, if they did mention it, I really want to know 'cause it's been kinda bothering me at the back of my mind. Anyway, it was meant to be something amusing for me. I hope you somewhat liked it.
