"Are you ready, Draco?"
Lucius looked down at the blond head as his son clenched his hands, obviously thinking. Anticipation coursed through him at Draco's silence, and his hand tightened warningly on his shoulder. He looked up at his lord, anxious from his son's indecision, and his hand tightened on Draco's shoulder. Draco simply stared at the cauldron in front of him, right hand clenched over his forearm. Voldemort made a small tsk of annoyance, and panic shot through Lucius.
"Draco..." He whispered warningly, then hissed when his son pulled away from him. The boy looked up at Voldemort, straight into his eyes, and Lucius had lost all hope for him. Not even those in the highest ranks of the Dark Lord ever dared to look in his eyes.
"Whats the point?" Draco's words were steady and calm, not showing the turmoil that Lucius could see in him by the way his shoulders were hunched, by how he held his head, by the way his fists were clenched at his sides.
"Watch your tongue, boy, if you wish to keep it."
"Will you not answer my question?"
Murmurs flew through the circle of death eaters at the nerve of him, talking to the Dark Lord so informally – Talking to him as if he were an equal...
"Silence."
As the voice commanded, no one spoke.
"The point, child, is that they do not deserve to live." Voldemort hissed out, not seeming angry at all. "The point, -child- is that they are lower than us." Voldemort's wand was now pointing at Draco. "And the point is that you will not stand against me."
Lucius' eyes widened when his son evaded the attack, jumping to the side, andin seconds Lucius was on the ground, jerking. The crutacious curse that hit him wasn't nearly as powerful as voldemort could have made it, and he thanked him silently for showing mercy to his traitorous son. The curse lifted shorty after, and he stood just in time to see his son dissapear with the 'pop' of apparation.
"He will die now, Lucius, you know that."
"Yes, my Lord."
"You will be punished for bringing such a failure into my circle."
"Yes, my Lord."
"Go."
Lucius bowed, apparating away, going straight to Draco's room in the manor. It was empty, cleared out. Draco could not have done this in the time since he left the meeting. His hand clenched around his wand. He had been planning this.
"I will not let anyone control me anymore, father."
His son expected him to already be speaking the curse by the time he could turn to the door, he was sure. To be expecting it was the only way he would have left so quickly. The spell hit the wall, sparks flying as it carved a huge hole into the wall.

Draco sat at the table of Grimmauld place, a hand over the unmarked flesh of his left arm. He looked up when he felt a hand on his shoulder, and found himself looking into the eyes of Dumbledore.
"You did the right thing child."
Draco shivered. Dumbledore sounded like him...The way he spoke. ...Almost.
"I hope so."
Dumbledore nodded, turning to leave him to his peace. The door shut, and Draco stared at the cracked wood, not moving.
"I hope so."
