Authors Note: This one was written a couple of days ago when I had just read an excellent H/L, and I had nothing else to do. I just kind of wrote down whatever popped in my head. It was also written around 2:00 a.m. It didn't take me too long to write… hope you enjoy it, anyway.

It was a clear, beautiful night, a perfect night for Luna. On nights like this she liked to sneak out of the castle and just look at the stars.
She supposed she mostly did this because it reminded her of nights so long ago when her mother had still been alive.
She remembered her mother, oh yes, she remembered. Her mother had been sweet and clever and just amazing. The nights they'd spent together outside in the starlight had been spent in silence usually; some nights they would talk about anything, everything. They would laugh and do each other's hair in the craziest ways they could. But Luna loved the silence. Magical things happened when nothing was said. You could close your eyes, and suddenly you were somewhere else… any place you pleased. Maybe that was just her, though.
Well, anyway, tonight Luna was traveling down to her usual place near the Great Lake and saw that someone was already there…
She walked closer. Messy black hair and glasses… what was Harry Potter doing here? But if she asked, he was likely to ask her the same thing, so she would not say anything to him.
Wordlessly, Luna sat beside Harry and stared up at the sky. Harry jumped and looked at her, alarmed. Luna gave him a distant smile and went back to the sky.
"L-Luna?" he asked her weakly. Luna smiled dreamily again.
"Yes, well, I couldn't sleep. And anyway, I like coming out here on nights like this," she breathed.
Harry said nothing. For a while they sat, both staring at the sky.
"I couldn't sleep either," Harry said quietly, after a few long minutes. Luna did not need to ask why. Obviously it was about that man, Sirius Black, who had been killed at the end of last year. She would not ask.
Harry ran his hands over his face. "I just wish I knew why it all keeps replaying in my head," he muttered.
Luna sighed. "It's hard to lose someone you cared about so much," she told him quietly.
"You're not wrong," Harry grumbled.
"I know just how you feel, Harry… my mother was my best friend in the entire world… Then, I lost her."
Great. Now she was going to cry. She swallowed the lump in her throat and stared up at the sky once again as a way to distract herself.
"It's beautiful out here tonight," she commented suddenly. They were quiet again for a long time.
Luna pretended not to notice when Harry went closer to her. She got the feeling he wanted to say something, but he couldn't find the words. She simply waited for him.
"He was… you know… really…" Harry said.
"He was what?" Luna asked patiently.
"He was… my father's best friend when they were at school," Harry whispered. Luna was surprised that he was telling her this, but she didn't show it. Luna never appeared surprised.
"Was he?" she asked dreamily. Harry nodded, but said nothing else.
Luna stayed the rest of the night, even after she watched Harry leave under an Invisibility Cloak. She fell asleep just as the sun began to rise, and was woken up by Ginny, who had found her there a little before classes started.
Maybe she'd be back tomorrow night too.
