Ways to show you care

Conrad looks up as the door to the small room he has been locked in opens and closes harshly. Wolfram is standing in front of it, glaring at him, which is nothing new, but him coming to visit Conrad at all, much less on his own, is. From his seat on the edge of the bed, Conrad raises an eyebrow questioningly at him.

"I thought you were dead," Wolfram says without any greeting or questions as to his welfare. He says it accusingly, blaming Conrad for making him think such things, but that's fine, since it really is Conrad's fault.

"I'm sorry," Conrad tells him, because he's not quite sure what else there is for him to say. He's not quite sure why Wolfram even cared, or why he would be mad at him for that out of everything else he has done. What about putting Yuuri in danger? What about betraying the kingdom and fighting with Gunter and every other horrible thing he has done? Out of all of those, Wolfram is mad at him for making him worry? To which thought Conrad has to pause and again wonder why Wolfram was even upset about such a thing in the first place. With the way he acts sometimes, you'd think he'd be happy to see his older half brother, his older part human brother, die.

"Damn right you better be! You made Yuuri cry!" Ah, that sounds more like it. Mad at Conrad for what he did to Yuuri instead. But the way Wolfram adds it makes him think that he is only trying to cover up what he revealed before, making it seem as if he was never hurt by Conrad except for from Yuuri being hurt.

"I'm sorry," Conrad says again, because he's tired and exhausted and not feeling quite up to thinking about all of the strange turns this conversation and Wolfram keep taking.

But instead of accepting the apology and leaving it at that, Wolfram stomps up to where he's sitting and grabs the front of his shirt in his fists, pulling him forward a little. "I can't believe you would do all of this!" he shouts, eyes blazing. "I thought you were at least smarter than this! Instead you make us worry about an idiot like you!"

And as he's shouting, Conrad is looking up into his clear green eyes and finding it amazing that he can see a few drops of liquid start to form around the edges even as Wolfram continues venting his anger. Loosening one hand from Conrad's shirt, Wolfram reaches up to quickly wipe his eyes, continuing even as he does so, "And you were so stupid to think you wouldn't be excepted back, since we have such a wimpy Maou, a-and..."

Conrad reaches up and pulls Wolfram to him, surprising him enough that the boy stops ranting and stays still against his chest for a moment, before regaining his senses and pulling away. But he doesn't pull away with as much force as usual, as he normally would do because he is disgusted by Conrad's very presence and doesn't want such a thing touching him. He pulls away and turns his back to Conrad, not letting him see his face anymore, but Conrad can see him wiping at his eyes, and hear his strained voice when he says frigidly, "Don't do anything so stupid again."

Conrad watches his younger brother storm out of the room, slamming the door behind him, and smiles.
