Hoping to Take You Away

They talk over the phone at times and through occasional letters; Riesenburg is far away from Central and Sheska has a job to take care of there, just like Winry has the automail shop. Sheska had to cut down on the phone-calls rather early, the first time she received a bill, she had thought it was just a joke...there was no way she could have spent so much time using a mere phone.
But apparently she had, and she can't afford it. It's strange--really--Sheska doesn't remember being quite as close to anyone else, before. Strange but nice.
Sheska finds herself missing Winry. Perhaps it's silly, but somehow it feels like they have experienced something together. They've seen what lies underneath everything, they've seen it together and they spent time with each other when they didn't have anyone else to trust.
Now when it's over and the adventure lies in the past, they both have responsibilities and those don't include each other.
So when Sheska sits down after work to write a letter to Riesenburg, the first line forms itself. "I miss you."
And still, it doesn't feel completely horrible. Because while it's not nice to miss someone, it's nice to have someone to miss.
