The Eyes of Ra
By Ael L. Bolt
Rating: PG
Genre: Drama
Summary: A different take on the execution scene in the movie. Ra chose a slightly different punishment for Daniel.
"Where's Jackson?"
Kawalsky's innocent question still rang in Jack's ears as they were dragged, soaking wet and shivering, to the front of the pyramid. Huge billowing curtains had been placed around the entrance, and Ra's ornate throne stood as a centerpiece. An honor guard of slave children stood attentively at the sides, and the animal-headed guards took up positions around the throne and one on either side of the captives. Jack knelt on the rough red carpet next to his men, giving nary a thought to the thousands of kneeling natives behind them.
A new figure moved from the darkness, and a wave of hatred surged through him at the sight of Ra's mask. In his mind he saw Jackson, waving his arms and desperately trying to stop the guards from firing, taking a hit clear through the side…falling to the ground in a crumpled, lifeless heap. Just like Charlie. Killed by Jack's own doing.
Ra stood in front of the crowd and raised his arms, saying something in that alien language of his. The natives all stood, yet Ra did not sit down. He remained before the assembly, and began speaking at length.
Jack knew it was nothing good when he could hear muffled gasps and whispers spreading through the group on the sand. Finally, Ra ceased speaking and waited for the crowd to be silent once again. When it was, he took a single step towards his captives…
As the mask deactivated and melted back into the face underneath, Jack felt his heart stop. No…it can't be…
Jackson's eyes flashed golden fire. "Kill them."
Author's Notes: I've wanted to write a Ra-takes-Daniel-as-a-host fic ever since I first saw that scene. Unfortunately this is all I have, because I don't have a plot. If you have any ideas, please don't hesitate to share.
