Wishing upon a Star

The stars gleamed down upon her as she sat on one of the many rocks surrounding the island. The waves bashed hard against them causing a mist to be created, slowly the small drops fell onto her, chilling her senses. She smiled as she tilted her head back to take in their sent, tranquil, everything calmed. The thoughts ended past, present, and future ceased. It seemed that nothing mattered as the time slowly passed by.

Awakening from her state reality came into view. A confused girl sat on a rock along the shore pondering how she could get herself in to such a predicament. Falling in love was one thing, but this, this was her leader, a teammate, and her best friend. Without a sound she wished for her love to be returned, to have the feeling of knowing that she is loved as more then a friend.

She sighed, nothing would be the same in their friendship if she told him, but then again how could she see him everyday knowing how she felt. A spark of light shot across the sky as she dreamed maybe it could work. This needed to be solved, and now was the time for change.

Standing from her perch she quickly took off in to the sky only to land on her T shaped home. The wind blew her flame-red hair to her left as she began to walk to her destination. There he sat, cape billowing in the wind, feet hanging over the edge with his hands supporting him behind his back.

Silently she smiled while walking over to him, "Hello Robin," she said while taking a seat next to him. As he turned to face her, her troubles began to fade away, without realizing it she had become lost in her presence.

"Hey Star," he said as a smile tugged on his lips. Even though he had entranced her, her emerald eyes still told him of her pain. "Are you okay?" he asked, concern hanging in his voice.

"Oh," suddenly remembering why she had ventured to him she left his gaze to look at the crashing waves below. Sensing that something was troubling his best friend he gently placed his hand on her shoulder.

"Starfire, what is wrong?" he asked her tenderly.

"I believe I have done something that could damage our friendship," she confessed as she played with her hands on her lap nervously. Sliding his hand off its place he took her hands in his. Looking her strait in the eyes he delicately pushed her to tell him, "What makes you think that you could hurt the way I feel about you?"

Quickly her eyes darted form their hands to his masked eyes, finally landing on his soft caring features. She sighed, defeated in her attempt to deny her true reason. "I think that…" she began, " I know what I am doing, feeling should not be accepted, but…" she trailed off to look at the sky, but he gently squeezed her hands tighter under his grasp.

"I want my love to be returned," she finished while looking to him for an answer: resentment, disapproval, understanding,or love. To her it did not matter, all she wanted was an answer.

Shock consumed the young boy wonder as he let her hands fall form his. "Y…y…you love me?" he stuttered.

Lowering her stare a single tear fell down her flawless cheek as she shook her head and mumbled, "Yes."

"Starfire, I," he began as he softly cupped her cheek so she couldlook him in the eyes; brushing the tear away he smiled. "I love you too." He chuckled as her bright green eyes shown with happiness. Leaning into her, hand still in place; he kissed her for the first time against her gorgeous smile.Taking his free hand he lightly wrapped it around her slim waist.

A new sensation burned inside ofher as she brought one of her hands to the back of his neck and the other to his arm that cupped her cheek. As the kiss progressed a lone star shot across the night sky allowing another wish to come true.
