AN: What if Cath had heard him asking Sofia out for dinner?

Summary: You know that someday he will have broken your heart into a million pieces. But until then you can only watch him breaking it a little more every day.

You're just on your way to your own office as you hear him ask her if she wants to have dinner with him. Not that long ago you thought he doesn't like her.

But that was before your promotion. Before she became his co-worker. Before she took over the part you had in his work life.

"It's just dinner," you tell yourself. But you know it's more. Dinner with him is never just dinner. It's always special. And by god you know what you're talking about. You had so many dinners with him. It was always special. It was never just dinner.

And it's not just the fact that he asked her that bothers you. It's that last week he was having dinner with Sara. This week it's dinner with Sofia. Who will it be next week? You just don't know.

And he for sure knows that you never truly liked Sara or Sofia either. Dinner with those two is different from the dinner he had with Terri Miller a few years ago. It was different. You liked her. She was a nice person. And you never really understood why there wasn't more between them.

Or maybe it didn't bother you to let him have dinner with Terri cause back then you didn't already realize that you love him. That you were in love with him all those years.

It hurts so much and cuts so deep to see him and her laughing leaving the lab and not noticing that there is someone watching them. Someone who is left behind with a heart which is just a little more broken than it already was yesterday.

With him it is different than it was with Ed or even Chris. Ed broke you're heart into a million pieces from one moment to another.

Chris, Chris never really had your heart but the part of trust he had he throw away just as Ed did.

Gil, Gil is the one person who has your heart ever since you've know him. You trust him more than you ever trusted Ed. You love him more than you ever loved anyone else. But he doesn't seem to notice.

And you don't want to destroy what you had for so long. The friendship.

But every time you see someone else making him smile and laugh your heart gets shattered a little more. Not all at once as Ed has destroyed it. But little by little.

It was hard as Ed destroyed it in one single moment but you could pull yourself back up and live on.

But with Gil it's different you know that he's slowly breaking your heart into a million pieces.

And all you can do is watch. Watching your heart being shattered once more by the only person you ever truly loved.
