Summary: He's back, stronger than ever, with the Heartless, but it's not Ansem. Yuffie, Squall, Aerith, and Cloud plan to stop him, but how can they if Sora's no where to be found? *Squffie*
A/N: Fanfiction.net was all messed up and ya. I was really busy with school work and stuff so here's chapter three. Chapter Four will be out sometime this weekend….
Chapter Three
Kidnapped
Yuffie was huddled in the corner of the Green Room, mainly thinking about earlier. 'Squall's never done anything like that…Do they really care or are they putting on an act? Ugh! Everything's so confusing! Yuffie stop thinking!' Yuffie put her hands to her head feeling a headache coming on. Squall had somehow done it again. It's like he had mind-controlling powers! He had gotten her to come back to the hotel somehow, yet she didn't know how he done it.
"Grr…Damn you, Squall!" Yuffie hissed to herself. "You never stop, do you?" She felt so emotionally mixed up at the moment and she was alone to sort everything out. Squall was in the other room with Cloud and Aerith. She thought they were discussing plans about the Gummi Ship, but Cid was working on the Gummi Ship at the moment so he'd probably be there with them discussing it. He wasn't though so they were discussing something important without her!
"It's late and I don't think they'll be back anytime soon…Maybe," Yuffie said, getting an evil twinkle in her eyes, "I can eaves drop. They'll never know 'cause I'm the 'Great' Ninja Yuffie and I'm sneaky!" Yuffie hopped up and turned the light in the Green Room to dim and very quietly opened the door. She crept to the Red Room and the door was cracked open a little. Yuffie slid down against the wall and listened in. She was quiet, but knew that Squall wasn't going come out anytime soon so she made sure she was comfortable.
"Leon…Thanks for bringing Yuffie back," she had heard Aerith say not too loud. Yuffie had to let a frown out at that comment. She didn't hear Squall reply.
"Aerith…The news?" she heard someone say. She figured it was Cloud and she smiled. She never really heard him talk so now was her chance.
"Ah…yes…" she said trailing off. It was a moment before she got to speak again. "The Heartless are making their way around the other planets. We've tried to contact Sora's Gummi Ship and we actually got a hold of them," she said. Her tone seemed depressing at the moment.
"What'd he say?" Squall said, speaking for the first time, while Yuffie was listening. There was a silence and Yuffie wanted to burst in there and ask herself, but that wouldn't do any good.
"Sora didn't say anything because Sora's no longer with Donald and Goofy," Aerith explained. Yuffie's eyes went very wide. No Sora? How are we going to stop the Heartless?
"Sora's not there?" Cloud inquired. Aerith remained silent and shook her head.
"Donald and Goofy are trying to find him. Their guesses were that Sora set out to find King Mickey on his own, but they don't know why," Aerith trailed off once again, "and neither do I."
It was very silent in the room, which Yuffie was beginning to question.
"And what's worse is that Sephiroth is the new leader of the Heartless," Cloud said, anger filled in his voice. "He can control the Heartless and he's probably after Sora, but we don't even know where he's at."
"What if Sephiroth knows?" Aerith asked with dismay.
"Well, that means that we have to start searching as soon as Cid's got the Gummi Ship fixed," Squall clarified. Everyone nodded and Aerith spoke up.
"I think we should all be getting some rest before we do anymore planning." Yuffie's eyes widened and she pushed herself up quietly and headed back to the Green Room. She pushed through the door, kicked off her shoes and pulled her headband away. She rushed to the drawer to grab her nightwear and rushed into the bathroom before she could get caught. She closed the door behind her and turned the shower on. She then leaned against the door and slid to the floor.
She was winded, angry, and shocked all at the same time. Sora gone, them not telling her yet, and almost getting caught. She could hear the door to the Green Room open and Yuffie knew Squall had come in. She slipped her clothes off and took her shower.
*****
Yuffie came out about out the bathroom about an hour later. She walked quietly towards the bed, which she had to share with Squall since there was no way that she'd be sleeping on the floor. She would sleep on the very edge of the bed. She carelessly tossed her clothes she usually wore, over somewhere else in the room. Yuffie sat on the bed carefully and sighed. Her hair fell into her face, covering her eyes.
She pulled her legs up onto the bed and pulled a blanket over herself and scooted to the far edge of the bed. Squall was asleep; his back turned to her. Yuffie closed her eyes and drifted off to sleep.

Keyblade
The Keyblade…?
Keyblade
Who's saying that?
Darkness
Are they talking about Sora?
Mightiest weapon of all
The heart?
Attain it
But I have a heart….
And never let go
The scene blasted up to a dirt path with grass on the sides. Her body took form on the path.
"What is this place?" She stood on the path and looked around. Yuffie was standing there till someone walked right through her. She just stood, mouth wide open. When she realized who it was, she jumped for and lunged out for him.
"Sora!" She said, trying to get his attention. He paid no attention and Yuffie went straight through him. She turned around to see Sora blue eyes focused on the ground. They sky was getting dark and Yuffie couldn't figure out why he couldn't hear her or in fact, why she had gone right through him.
"Sora, listen to me!" She said waving her hands in front of his face. A voice spoke out from behind Sora.
"What you need lies beyond here, but in order to get it--You will lose something very dear to you. Something very important." Sora gave a look of exasperation and continued to looked down. Yuffie just watched to see Sora's actions. The voice continued, "The more important it is, the deeper you keep it in your heart until eventually you forget it. That includes yourself." There was a silence. No one moving, not even Yuffie.
"Myself too?" Sora voice broke the silence.
"You will lose the light in the dark and even forget what you lost," the cold voice's volume increased.
"The light, in the dark..." Was all Sora responded with. Yuffie gave a look of appall. Who did this guy think he was? Yuffie couldn't think much longer. Something was pulling her away. Sora was fading from her sight. He was being replaced by darkness. Plain darkness that was beginning to take over the whole field of grass, the sky, and the path. Yuffie backed up and away from the darkness, but then it exploded to total blackness.
She cowered in a squatting position. It was an endless road of black, which scared Yuffie.
Scratch, scratch, scratch….
"Huh…?" Yuffie said, glimpsing around to see what it was.
Scratch, scratch, scratch….
"Wha…Ah!" Yuffie screamed. Those piercing eyes were looking at her again and she could hear their claw marks getting closer. "Help!! No get away!! Ah! Don't come any closer! Help!" They were really close now. The claw marks were not even at least ten feet away. She saw those eyes and cried out, "Squall!!" She didn't know why she called his name. The Heartless jumped at her then a streaking white light filled the room dissolving the Heartless in one mere second.
"Yuffie!" Yuffie was pulled up, giving out a cry. Her eyes darted around the dim Green Room. She felt someone's hands on her shoulders.
"Yuffie. What's the matter?" She knew very well whose voice it was. It was cold like it always was. It belonged to Squall. Of course it did. She was sharing a bed with him. Yuffie took in breaths trying to calm herself down.
"It's only a dream. Only a dream," she kept murmuring to herself. His hands were still on her shoulders, gripping them lightly so he wouldn't hurt her.
"Yuffie…Are you alright?" Most of the coldness in his voice, gone for that second. She nodded and breathed out the word, "Yes." She brought her knees to her chest and hugged them. Squall looked down and nodded. His grip slipped from her shoulders and down to the bed. He sighed and said, "Try to get some more sleep if you can. You have some tough training ahead of you." Yuffie just nodded, not even sparring a glance at him and put her head back on the pillow and reluctantly, fell asleep again.
Squall couldn't get out his head what had happened. She was turning in the bed, struggling seemed like it. He had gotten irritated and turned over to face her and saw that she was sweating horribly. Her hair was starting to clamp to her head and she was shaking violently. She had said something that he couldn't make out, but it sounded like…Sora.
Yuffie had twisted in her sleep and he was beginning to have some concern. She had stopped for a moment and that's when he didn't expect she'd yell again.
"Yuffie…Stop moving…Yuffie?" Squall growled. She didn't comply. Squall turned over to see her. She didn't look like she was doing so good. Her face kept changing expressions. She turned over and seemed to struggle to wake up. She whispered something. He arched his eyebrows as he tried to figure out what she was saying.
"Yuffie…" She quieted down and stopped moving. Squall, satisfied, laid back down and closed his eyes. It was then, seconds later, she screamed his name.
"Squall!!" He jolted up and pulled her up.
"Yuffie!" He said, with a little more concern in his voice than he would have liked. She opened her eyes…she was so scared. Why had she called out my name?
He closed his eyes for some sleep he long needed and fell asleep…(Note: I didn't want to confuse people, but the italics above where Squall's point of view)
*****
Yuffie moaned as the bright light hit her face. She rolled over and put the pillow over her head.
"Yuffie. Get up," A low voice said.
"Uh uhhhh," she said, slurring it out. The person didn't seem very patient because they grabbed the blanket and yanked it off the bed. Yuffie being on top of it, went flying with it. "Eek!" She sat right up, getting ready to chew out who ever pulled her out of her slumber. She looked back up and arched her eyebrows in regret. "Heh heh…Hi Cloud…"
"You sure like to sleep in," he commented. She scratched the back of her head and gave a witless smile.
"Um yeah…and you mean sleep in…What time is it?" Yuffie asked, getting up. Cloud pointed to the clock and Yuffie almost screamed when she saw it.
"There's your time," Cloud said with no specific tone in his voice.
"7 o' clock!! That's not sleeping in!" Yuffie screeched. She huffed at him and ran into the bathroom. Cloud chuckled and left the room. Squall wasn't there. He was probably at the Waterway. A little while later, Yuffie came out of the hotel in her regular attire. She dragged her feet down the stairs towards the First district. She grumbled under her breath about something along the lines of sleep. Since she was busy thinking about that and wasn't paying attention to where she was going…Let's just say it wasn't pretty.
Yuffie tripped over her feet and tumbled down the stairs landing at the bottom with a thump. She rubbed her bottom and grumbled some more. She looked around quickly to see if she had caught anyone's attention, but how could she? No one ever dared to come near the Second District with the Heartless roaming and the ones who did, didn't come back most of the time.
"Stupid, stupid, stupid!" She muttered, harshly, as she pulled herself up. She shook her head and footed towards the door. She was practically awake now since she had a 'great' fall. She never did encounter any Heartless, which was really odd, but she pushed through the First District doors without any worry. One of the last things she needed at the moment was Aerith breathing down her back about coming alone. When Aerith saw Yuffie heading towards the Café, she rushed over with her look of you-never-come-alone.
"Yuffie."
"What?" she questioned, some irritation in her voice. Aerith put her hands on her hips and then pointed her finger at her.
"You're not supposed to come alone. You know that yet, you still did! That's why I sent Cloud back to wait for you," Aerith lectured. Yuffie mumbled under her breath, "That's why."
"Well, how was I supposed to know? He just ripped me from my slumber and it's freaking 7:30 A.M.!" Yuffie hissed. Aerith opened her mouth, but then closed it. They started to walk back to the Café to get some breakfast.
"I'm sorry Cloud had to go in and give you your wakening, but you can't be left at the hotel alone while sleeping," Aerith started. She had already ordered breakfast for the two and they sat down. Yuffie just rested her head in her arms.
"Yuffie, the faster you eat-"
"I know," Yuffie interrupted, "the faster I can get back to the hotel." She lifted her head and moved her hand towards the coffee. She sipped a couple drinks of it then put it back on the table. It was a moment later, Yuffie sat up with energy.
"Feeling better now?" Aerith asked, obviously some laughter hidden in her tone. Yuffie nodded and now sat fully upright.
"Coffee can sure save you when you're tired," Yuffie said, wolfing down the rest of it. After she was done, she got up and stretched. "Perfect. I'm ready to go back!" she said, as she moved back towards the Second District, but was yanked back.
"Not yet. We have to wait for Cloud to get back," Aerith said. Yuffie frowned and turned her head to look over her shoulder to glance at Aerith.
"You can," Yuffie said. She ran off towards the door and heard Aerith yell her name angrily. Yuffie just ran and then waved back.
"Yuffie!" Her name echoed. She grinned and ran up the stairs with a huge grin on her face. She looked back to see no Aerith. Still running, she looked forward only to come a screeching halt. She stopped and was gonna turn around and run the other way, but he grabbed her holding her arms back.
"Hey!" She yelled back, gruffly.
"Thought you could run, huh?" He yanked her back. He put his arms around her as quickly as possible and threw her over his shoulder. Yuffie growled and hollered, "Hey! That's not fair!!" He smirked and said, "What's not fair is Aerith sending me back to get you and you left without me. If I came back empty handed, she totally kill me, but now that I have you you can guess the rest."
"Cloud! You can't do this!" Yuffie said. He smirked again and said, "Oh yes I can." Yuffie just pouted and frowned. If Squall saw her right now, he'd be laughing at her so hard. 'Wait…Since when did I care what he thought?'
Aerith was coming towards them with a huge smile on her face. Cloud was obviously going to get a reward. Yuffie tried not to think of what that was. She shook her head and then felt herself being put back on the ground.
Aerith gave Cloud a hug and to her surprise, he gave one back. Yuffie rolled her eyes and sighed. She just sat down where he had put her and rested her chin in her hand. A look of fury was still imbedded on her face. Cloud and Aerith sat down at the café and she watched him eat. They talked and chit chatted while Yuffie sat on the floor waiting for them to hurry up and she bet that that wasn't going to happen anytime soon.
She was practically falling asleep on herself when someone caught her eye. Squall was heading towards them, Gunblade resting on his shoulder and Yuffie perked up. She looked up at him as he walked passed her towards Aerith to say something. Probably reporting the amount of Heartless he had destroyed today. She looked up at him and nodded. He began to walk away and Yuffie took the chance. It was now or never. She bound up and grabbed Squall's jacket and tugged him back. He looked over his shoulder with his usual glare and Yuffie practically begged him.
"Take me with you…Please!" She whispered quietly, but with force. Squall smirked, first time she saw that in a while, and gave a slight nod. Aerith and Cloud were watching them attentively and Yuffie slowly followed his trail. Aerith raised an eyebrow and a slight smile of curiosity hit her face. They went up the stairs out of Aerith's and Cloud's view and into the Second District.
Still facing forward, Squall asked, "Why'd you want to leave?" Yuffie looked up at him and laughed.
"You've never been stuck with them?" She asked. He shook his head and Yuffie grinned. "Try staying with them because you were forced to and you couldn't leave without one of them." Squall glanced back at her with a curious look. "You don't want to know. Just be thankful." Yuffie said, as they came through the Second District door fully. Yuffie smiled and stepped to the side, as Squall was heading towards the other set of stairs.
"Thanks for saving me. I'm gonna go now and back to the hotel and stay so goodbye!" she said, whipping around towards the hotel. Squall grabbed her hand and yanked her towards the direction he was going. He shook his head and Yuffie scowled.
"Not uh. You asked for me to take you with me and I'm keeping that promise," Squall reminded. Yuffie's jaw dropped and she gave a look of you-can't-do-this! Squall had an evil smirk set to his face and he continued. "You're coming with me to train." Yuffie growled and shook her head no.
"B-B-But-" She stammered. He yanked her after him, as he walked towards the Alleyway to go to the Waterway.
"Oh yes. You're going to train with me since you wanted to leave Cloud and Aerith so bad." Yuffie tried to resist, but Squall kept a good grip on her hand and pulled her down the stairs and towards the Alleyway with no trouble at all.
"I don't wanna!!" Yuffie whined. Squall shook his head evilly and said, "Too bad." Yuffie groaned loudly and sighed. He led her along the Alley at a quick pace and to the entrance of the Waterway. She scowled, but for some reason, had excitement bubbling all over. He let go of her once they entered the Waterway and she backed up to the near wall. She waited for his next move and he turned around. He swung his Gunblade over her shoulder a couple times then stood in a fighting stance. Yuffie creased her eyebrows knowing she wouldn't be able to get out of the one.
"Ready?" He asked with amusement in his voice. Yuffie pulled out her Conformer and smiled wickedly.
"Always." Squall started off the training with Fire and Yuffie dodged it, running towards him with her Conformer at hand. She threw some Ninja stars to distract him, but he was smart for that. He ducked underneath them and swung his Gunblade around. Yuffie rolled forward so she could dodge the sharp edge of the Gunblade. He had the advantage at the moment with her on the ground.
She quickly jumped up and they dueled like this for a while. Squall was standing at the entrance of the Waterway and Yuffie threw her Conformer. It was heading towards him and he moved, but it hit the wall instead and flew back at Yuffie. She didn't know where it was going and it flew back and hit her with great force. She flew back and skidded across the cement.
"Hmph."
"Ouch," Yuffie said, sitting up and rubbing her head. "That's going to sting tonight." She got up and balanced herself before anything else and said, "I'm done. Take me back to the hotel." Squall just leaned against the wall. Yuffie waited for his response and she just walked to the entrance of the Waterway.
She went through the entrance and Squall followed her trail. Amazing he actually listened to her without any argument. She walked out of the Alleyway and up the stairs. Squall still close behind her. Yuffie got to the hotel and opened the door. In the hall were Cloud and Aerith. Yuffie had a frown set to her face yet, she didn't know why. She forced herself to smile. Aerith turned to Yuffie and Yuffie waved. Aerith had a bright smile on her face.
"Yuffie. We have something to tell you," Aerith said. Yuffie quirked an eyebrow. Aerith was actually gonna tell her something? Not that Aerith ever told her anything, but from what has been happening, it surprised her. Yuffie felt a sly smirk hit her face and she put her hands behind her back like Aerith did when she was curious.
"Yes?" Yuffie asked. Aerith looked at Cloud then at Squall and began to say, "Well…Sora's missing." Yuffie nodded and tried to act like she knew nothing. Yuffie kept her mouth closed and Aerith told her everything. After she was finished, Aerith wasn't sure of Yuffie's actions.
"You're taking this quite well," Aerith said. Yuffie came to eye contact with her and gave a slight smile.
"Well…With the way things are now, I have to keep my cool." Aerith gave a nod and gave an evil smile like she knew something Yuffie didn't.
"Right. Good for you, Yuffie." Yuffie gulped as Aerith had said that. Yuffie knew Aerith knew she that she had known before. Yuffie felt the need to sneak off and slipped right past Aerith and into the Green room. Aerith watched her go with a slight smirk and satisfaction. Yuffie did not know why though.
Yuffie heaved herself onto the bed and kicked her shoes off. She turned to her side and curled up. Squall entered the room shortly after. She closed her eyes to and heard Squall rummaging around for some stuff. Normally, she would've gave him the usually yelling and then get into a fight, but now was too tired to bother. She closed her eyes and drifted off slowly, unaware of Squall watching from the other side of the room.
*****
An eerie aroma stretched across the room. Yuffie lifted her head from the pillow to see that it was dark outside. Her gaze wandered to the clock. She quirked an eyebrow.
"It's only six?" While she stretched, she slipped her shoes on and grabbed her weapons. She slipped them into place and decided to go into the Red Room to see if Aerith or at least someone else. She crept her way across the carpet and opened the door quietly. She rubbed her eyes then yawned. The light in the Red Room wasn't on, but she could hear some voices.
"Huh?" she whispered. One of the voices for sure was Aerith's. The other was still unknown to her. Aerith was…scared? How come she was scared? Yuffie busted in there, weapon at hand, and jumped in front of Aerith and Yuffie gasped at who she saw. Total chaos broke out….
*****
Squall and Cloud were in the Second District. They were having those man talks about the Heartless as they battled the Heartless.
Cloud's sword busted through a shadow heartless. Leon smirked and closed his eyes. He chuckled and swung his blade sternly at a Defending Heartless and it disappeared. It seemed the Heartless were gone and Squall swung his Gunblade before tipping over his shoulder. Cloud swung his Bustersword over his head and let it hit the ground with a chip. The two met up with one another and gave nothing but a couple words.
"That all?" Cloud asked, with a bit of pride in his voice. Squall nodded and chuckled. He tipped his head back when he realized it was dark. Cloud tipped his head to the side and gave a curious look. "Something wrong?" he catechized. Squall had a slight frown set to his face and gave a sigh.
"The skies dark already. It usually doesn't get this dark this early or for a matter of fact get this dark in Traverse town. Something's up…" Cloud had a slight frown set to his face and then they both gave a look of shock come up to their faces when they heard it. A scream that echoed throughout the Second District. Cloud and Squall took off towards the hotel in an instant.
They burst in through the Red Room and no one was there. Squall's expression changed instantaneously as he gazed around the room. Cloud went into the Green Room and checked for them. The room was a totally disaster. The windows were broken, the walls were bent in, as if someone was thrown at the wall, and the carpet had blood running along. Squall followed the trail to the other side of the bed and froze.
"Yuffie!!" He cried, rushing to her and kneeled by her side. She was on the floor; blood covering some parts of her body. Her hair was ruffled and she seemed at peace. He frowned and called her name again. He gritted his teeth and could hear Cloud yelling.
"Aerith? Aerith!?" He was running down the hall and took off angrily through the Red Room. "Aerith!? Aerith!" He whipped his one wing out and jumped off the balcony, as if she were in the sky. Squall cursed and his eyes burned with anger. Who would do such a thing?
"Damn it, Yuffie! Speak to me!" Squall cursed, as he shook Yuffie lightly. Yuffie slightly stirring and Squall's fear began to wilt away. Her eyes were half open. She blinked a couple times and then she reached an arm around Squall neck for support and pulled herself up.
"I-I won't l-let you…I won't let him take her!" she screamed in fury. She pulled herself up and tried to move, but Squall kept her still.
"Yuffie! Get a hold of yourself!" He yelled through his teeth.
"N-No! He took her! I just can't let him take her! It's my fault!" She said, trying to keep the sobs back.
"Aerith? Do you mean Aerith?! He took her. Who's he?" Squall questioned.
"Sephiroth! He took her and he says Sora's dead!" Yuffie said, struggling with Squall.
"Hmph. Yuffie, stop struggling!" Squall growled.
"No! I have to stop him…I have to…" Yuffie said, trailing off. She closed her eyes and fell limp. Squall picked her up and Cloud landed in the balcony. He looked like he was going to commit homicide.
"It's all him. The one winged angel that took her….and killed Sora."
