Unexpected Twist
It was going to be Harry's 7th year at Hogwarts, and he was already excited about leaving the Dursleys because they seemed to be a little short tempered than last year. Aunt Petunia blamed it on Vernon's work, she said that his boss recently disappeared leaving the company at its wits end.
One night a few days before his departure to Hogwarts Harry happened to be in the kitchen washing dishes when an odd news report came on the TV.
"And today yet another person missing from the London area, on Magnolia Crescent a male age 36 was reported missing when he went for a walk. The man's name is Harold Jupien, a young business man in London. His girlfriend reported that he went for a walk late Friday night to check around the neighborhood as he did every night, but he never returned; after four hours of waiting she called the police. The police are not sure if this has anything to do with the disappearances of the three other victims in the London area. Just last month a factory manager went missing after going on a ride to the store. Last week two other people went missing, young girl Geri age 18 and Harper Keen 24 both went missing on their way to work. Whether this is just plain coincidence or something else we are not sure, but we will keep you updated this has been Mort Reynolds channel 10 news."
Vernon turned off the TV.
"I SWEAR WHAT ARE WE PAYING THOSE POLICE FOR ANYWAYS, TO RIDE AROUND IN FANCY CARS ALL DAY!" Vernon went on another rampage, but Harry got suspicious over why so many people were disappearing at once.
That night he glanced through the Daily Prophets he had got this month, but none of them had any such news on any matter of Voldemort, and ever since Sirius died, Harry hadn't been getting that much news about the Dark Lords actions.
Just then Hedwig flew through the window with a letter attached to her paw.
Harry grabbed the letter and broke the string that closed it.
It read:
Dear Harry,
I'm sorry I haven't had time to write you, I've been at the Weasley's ever since last week; my parents are on vacation and wouldn't be back on time to take me to Hogwarts so I've been sent to stay with Ron and his family. Something odd is happening, I know that these are just rumors, and haven't been PROVEN yet but RONALD thinks he needs to bring this to your attention, even though it has been submitted in ANY papers. SHUT UP HERMIONE! There have been rumors that there was an attack on someone in Diagon alley when they were shopping, a bunch of people saw, but none of them could get the story right. Everyone has had different stories; none of them match up, which is odd enough as it is. But there's more, apparently the person worked for the ministry of magic which may be the reason why it hasn't been in any papers, because of the fact that it's too controversial. Never the less, Mrs. Weasley wants you to be at the house where we are staying so she won't have to worry about you getting hurt. Please go to the playgrounds near your house at eleven o clock sharp so we can pick you up. DON'T BE LATE!
-Hermione
"Leave it to Hermione to worry about something as unimportant as me being late," Harry sighed and sat on his bed.
Harry rubbed his scar he had a small headache. Harry flopped down and looked up at the ceiling; he was hoping to have a peaceful last year at Hogwarts.
Harry got up and gathered his things and put Hedwig in her cage.
He slowly crept downstairs and zipped out the front door before anyone noticed he had left.
