A/N: This was something that's driven me nuts for a while, it's not a fanfic or story really, but it's something creepy that happened to me involving the fifth Harry Potter book.

So, I was up at around 8 am waiting for OoTP to be delivered (Order of The Phoenix, for those who don't know) and I had to wait an hour and a half. Boo. But that's not what this is about. When I got the book, I ran up with it to my room, and didn't come down for around 7 or 8 hours, until I finished the book.

Now here's the creepy thing that's been bugging me. You know how in the books there's a picture at the beginning of every chapter? Well, I got to the chapter where the Thestrals were introduced. Now I hadn't read the chapter yet, so I had no idea what the Thestrals were. But when I looked at the picture, I saw three Thestrals.

I'm being dead serious.

I saw these giant lizard like things that were almost all bone, with just a little skin, and they had a weird body, that looked like a cross between a lizard and a horse. They also had these small, spiky, bat-like wings sticking out of their backs. Their heads were very lizard like, with a snake/lizard like tongue, and the one that took up the front of the picture was attached to a carriage. It had a kind of harness with two long straps going back and attaching to the carriage. The other two were just in the background, not attached.

Now that might sound pretty undescriptive, but I can't tell more. I tend to only glance at the pictures, and when I had glanced at it, that was what I had seen.

So I finish the book, which I loved, and I wanted to look at the chapter pictures again. So I'm flipping through, looking at the pictures, and I get to the end of the book, and realized that I hadn't seen the Thestral picture. I went through the book five more times, but it just wasn't there.

I imagined what the Thestrals looked like and what they did, before I even knew!

I was so freaked out, but I was just reading over a J.K.Rowling interview, and I saw a question about the illustrations, and I remembered this and had to tell someone. So I tell you.

And I'm telling the honest to god truth. I swear to you, by whatever you would have me swear by (and I take oaths very seriously), that I saw this picture.

Sorry if you don't believe me, but I know that I was freaked out.

This is absolute truth.
