Kaiba woke up one morning with the deep desire to kill. Not Joey, not Yugi…but himself.
It was a strongly debated issue in his head. The pros, if he killed himself, would be he wouldn't have to deal with life anymore, or the people he hated most. Or loved most.
Then again, who knew what would happen to Mokuba? Would he go back to the orphanage? Or what? Go live with a living relative that he barely knew? Those were the cons.
He sat up in bed, thinking hard. His therapist had diagnosed him with depression, and put him on antidepressants, but before the antidepressants, he had not thought about suicide.
Maybe that was the problem.
But somehow, Seto Kaiba knew that wouldn't help. He made the decision:
He would commit suicide.
As he trudged down the flights of stairs, he found his eyes welling up with tears. He hated to do this to Mokuba, but it was something he felt needed to be done. He passed Mokuba's room, and saw the younger Kaiba staring at him intently.
"Seto, what's wrong?"
"Sleep, kiddo. Nothing's going to happen."
Mokuba cocked his head. "I never said anything would happen!"
Kaiba swallowed. "Um…just sleep," he mumbled as he walked past the spacious room.
But Mokuba was curious and fought the urge to follow his big brother.
As Kaiba continued on his way to the kitchen he stopped once more. Was this really what he wanted?
YES, he fiercely reassured himself. I DO WANT TO DIE.
And with that, he grabbed a knife, stuck it in the pocket of his navy blue bathrobe, and swallowed. Kaiba walked back to his room, passing the now softly snoring Mokuba.
Kaiba charily cut one wrist, wincing. He watched as the blood flowed easily through the cut that had been sliced in his pale skin. Then he cut his other wrist, and felt himself growing weaker. He lifted the knife to his throat. He repeated what he'd done with his wrist.
There seemed to be blood everywhere. On his desk, on his hands, and on his throat.
Kaiba felt the life draining out of him the way the blood was. He knew he wouldn't live much longer, so he quickly grabbed a notebook and pen and scrawled,
'Dear Mokie,
I'm sorry I had to do this to you. But I felt it was something I needed to do. Life was hard, but now I'm free…
Love,
Your Big Brother,
Seto Kaiba'
