Delta Squad: Forming Up

By Bass GSX

Prologue: The Gears Are Beginning To Turn...

"Lama Su, I must be brief. I am not sure whether the Sith know that I am here, but regardless this meeting must be quick."

"Of course, Master Sifo-Dyas. You have already made a generous donation to our accounts. We would be...happy to serve. Do you wish for more clones to be delivered, or...?"

"No. Well...not the normal kind."

"How may I be of assistance, then, Jedi Master?"

"Can you make some of them...less obedient? More independent?"

"Of course we can, Master Sifo-Dyas. But why?"

"I want some...commandos. I want five squads of them, so that we don't have to rely on an army of drones."

"As you wish, Jedi Master. But just because they are more independent doesn't mean they will be excellent."

"So, get them better training. In fact, I know just the man..."

ooo

"Vau! Vau, wake up. The hyperspace jump is over", a voice stabbed at the edges of Sergeant Vau's consciousness.

"Hmm...I'm getting up. Didn't think it'd end so soon", Vau muttered. He rolled out of the bunk and stretched, walking towards the flight deck.

"I guess your ship must have one hell of a hyperdrive to jump a distance in such a short amoutn of time, eh, Jango?" Vau commented, addressing the pilot of the ship he was traveling in. Jango grinned.

"Well, it's a little...modified, you might say, ah? Heh heh heh", the Mandalorian smiled like a predator. Vau was a tad nervous at the smile, but his military training allowed him to hide it.

"So, why did Sifo ask me to come all the way out here?" he asked as Jango swung theSlave Ithrough one of the ubiquitous storms that wracked Kamino's surface.

"Not sure. All he said was there was a special job for you", Fett replied.

"Mister Vau? Would you like something to drink?" young Boba asked, holding a tray of various Mandalorian beverages he had been learning to fix. Vau shook his head, but Jango plucked one off the tray.

"Thanks, son", he smiled. Boba grinned in return and walked back to the ship's hold. The ship suddenly went horizontal for landing. Vau sighed as he was thrown to the deck, much to the pilot's amusement.

"I'll never get used to how this ship does that..." he muttered. The loading ramp hissed as it lowered, and Vau dusted himself off and rose.

"Well, thanks for the ride, Jango. I'm sure we'll be seeing a lot of each other here", Vau remarked. He walked out into the violent monsoon and staggered over to the door. Water poured off him in small rivers, and his trail was marked with puddles the size of a baby Wookiee. A tall, thin Kaminoan greeted him.

"Hello. You must be Sergeant Vau. We are glad to have you here. My name is Taun We. Come, you must meet Lama Su. We have much work to do", Taun We said.

"Really? What am I doing here, anyway?"

"Oh, of course. You're training the commandos."

"The commandos? What commandos?"

"Why, the clone commandos."

"Clone commandos?"
