AN : Second fic. Don't shoot me! {Please?} As many of you know the first part; this is a different subplot. It only slightly puts Dean in the bad persons' list, which is very different from my initial point of view about him - but, after watching tonight's rerun of Break up Part Two... This is the first installment of this subplot.
Summary: What if... Tristan broke up with Summer at the party? What if that changes Rory's perception of him and that draws her closer to him? Slightly Tristan's POV at the beginning. Will switch with Rory's at the end...
Rory Schmory I
"Why the hell did you even come with me?" Okay, so aggravation was the word that would describe his mood the least. Summer, his supposed-girlfriend, just cheated on him. That is not something he would take lightly. He detested unfaithfulness because of his father and mother. She was so close to being slapped. He looked around for something to take his mind off the thought of physical violence. Right now, he is antsy. He will not succumb to abusive display of emotion. He spotted Rory and some of his so-called friends as they watched this.
"I am sick of hearing 'You're my girlfriend.' Twenty times a day." She answered haughtily.
Tristan knew he should have dropped out of the popular ballgame before it even started. It seemed like she wanted an out too - the week before. That's why he hooked up with her. He pursed his lips and said, "Okay. Fine." He shrugged and motioned for her to go away.
"What?" She asked, her not-so-innocent act getting on his nerves.
"Do what you want. We're through." He gave her a tight and dismissing smile. When she didn't move, he did. He went around her and never looked back. He found the party's hostess easily and tapped her.
Madeline broke off the passionate kiss she was sharing with a guy he recognized. "Wha-?"
He smiled kindly. "Hey, sorry for interrupting. Great party, as always, Madd - so thanks for the invite. I'm off. See you guys at school."
"You're going?" The guy asked. "With Summer, I presume?" He waggled his eyebrows at him in a suggesting manner.
"Nope." Tristan told him. He lifted his fist toward the guy. The guy knocked his fist with his. "I broke it off."
"WHAT?" Both he and Madeline exclaimed. "This is news!" She continued.
"Oh, don't stop the party on my account." Tristan told them. "I'll give you the details on your answering machine, Blake. And you can pass it on. I'm tired so let me go." He turned as they nodded and went back to making out.
"Figures." Tristan muttered. As he got his coat from the entrance closet and went out the door, he never noticed three people watch his departure.

Wow. That was the thought that ran through Rory Gilmore's head. A guy who had the nerve to break up with a girl who deserved it. It made her think. Did she deserve it when Dean broke up with her? She quickly moved about and found Lane and Henry on the dance floor.
"Lane, excuse us Henry."
"What's up?" Lane asked, excitement in her eyes.
"You know the guy and girl who we watched fighting a while ago by the French sodas?"
"What about them?"
"The guy is Bible Boy. And he broke up with her."
Crossing her arms, Lane said, "Well, personally I think she deserved it. She cheated on him by making out with this Austin guy in the bathroom. Bible Boy had the right."
"Do you think-"
"Excuse me ladies." Henry appeared from nowhere. "I don't know about you, but if you want your conversation to not be heard; I suggest you keep your voices down." He inclined his head toward the departing figure. They watched him go out the door.
The three of them turned to each other, not knowing what to do now.
Rory sighed and said, "Lane we'll talk later. I'm going to find a comfortable spot to read."
"Are you sure?"
She nodded.
Lane turned to Henry and smiled. "So, how about a drink? I'm thirsty."
Rory heard them chatter as she finally saw a quiet place to read in. The piano room. She made way to the piano bench and sat down. Before opening the book on her marked page, she continued the question she was about to ask Lane in her head...
"Did I deserve it? Did Dean have the right to break up with me?"
