"I'm not in love with Eddie."
Gil looked up from his desk, smiling softly as he watched Catherine standing in the doorway. "Hi."
Catherine walked in and shut the door behind her. She moved over to his desk, perching on the corner of it.
"I'm not in love with Eddie."
Gil understood the message of her feet resting in his lap, and he began to give her a foot massage. "Are you sure?"
"He came to see me at the park, when I took Lindsey this morning. He tried to kiss me." She caught Gil's look. "He didn't force me. And I didn't kiss him."
Gil nodded. "So."
"He told me, in the interrogation room, that if I didn't help him, and he went to jail, that Lindsey would be visiting him there, instead of going to the mall."
Gil looked up at her, and then with a sad smile, he pulled her into his lap. Catherine wrapped herself around him, hugging him tightly.
"That was unfair of him to do that, Cath."
"Unfortunately, I let him play me. Because I don't want Lindsey to go into one of those places."
"And if he was guilty?"
"If he was guilty, I would gladly nail his ass to the wall."
Gil grinned and hugged her. "That's my Catherine."
"So…we're okay?"
He pressed a gentle kiss to her cheek. "We're okay."
She looked up at him, a wicked smile on her face. "That's not going to do it, sweetheart."
"Why whatever do you mean?" Gil asked innocently.
Catherine grinned, her lips meeting his in a deep kiss. "We need to make up. A lot."
Gil looked confused. "Were we fighting?"
Catherine's hand slid down between them. "Does it matter?"
"Not really," Gil decided quickly, leaning in to kiss her again.
Catherine chuckled against his lips, her arms wrapping around his neck. When the kiss broke, she whispered in his ear. "I locked the door."
Gil looked at her, a broad smile on his face. "I love the way you think."
