Welcome to my life
She pressed the fast forward button to track number 10. Her eyes returned into two firm lines as she sank into the words and rhymth.
"Do you ever feel like breaking down?
Do you ever feel out of place?"
She didn't know when, or how she was in love with the song. But she did know why: The song was practically her life composed into a piece of melody.
"Like somehow you just don't belong
And no one understand you."
Being unusually sadistic that she was, she never fit in with society. People. Friends. Classmates. They either feared or abhored her. Anna watched as several students walked by, sneering at her. Bitches. She thought bitterly.
"Do you ever wanna run away?
Do you lock yourself in your room?"
"Do you lock yourself in your room?" She repeated to herself. It rushed her back to poker nights. When Ren and Horo would lock themselves in fierce wrestling matches. When laughters echoed throughout Funbari Hill. When she would always peeked through the kitchen's door, watching them having the time of their life. Yoh had invited her to join many times, but her pride got the best of her.
"With the radio on turned up so loud
That no one hears you screaming"
"Hey, Anna Banana, waiting for someone?"
"None of your business, bitch!" She hissed hoarsely.
"Stop being a sadistic damn ass for once, Kyouyama." The purple hair girl glowered scornfully.
"No you don't know what it's like
When nothing feels alright
You don't know what it's like to be like me."
Anna knelt down and heaved an exhausted sigh. She was used to petty fights like that before she even entered middle school. It came daily, almost like super. And everytime, she would swallow it, despite its bitterness. She watched as another group of students departed. Just once, she would like to live as a care-free schoolgirl, just like them.
"To be hurt
To feel lost
To be left out in the dark"
To wear a trade-mark grin. To have friends. To be loved.
"To be kicked
When you're down
To feel like you've been pushed around."
Why was she here? Why can't they accept her? No one. No one loved her. She loved no one. So why was she here in the first place? What is her purpose in life?
"Hey, sorry for the hold up. I got detention today."
"To be on the edge of breaking down
When no one's there to save you.
No you don't know what it's like."
Oh... that...
The brunette threw her an apologetic smile and offered her his hand.
"I'll let it slides today." She spoke in a monotone voice and grabbed his hand.
"Let's go home..."
Stop. She stuffed the CDPlayer back into her backpack. A small, seldom smile spread on her pale, grim features.
"Welcome to my life"
"Yoh...?"
"Hmm?"
"Do you think I can join poker night next time?"
