Of Shattered Purple Lenses
Ban blew out another ring of smoke and then watched the circle fade into the cold air of the evening. He had been sulking at the rooftop for a couple of hours now. He raised his hand up his face to reposition his glasses but found nothing to readjust; instead he looked up the bright full moon and recalled what happened moments ago.
Ginji accidentally destroyed Ban's favorite eyewear. The blonde took Ban's glasses and tried to imitate him, and then clumsily slipped. Ban's violet eyeglass got knocked off Ginji's head and soon was broken into pieces.
Ban was furious. Both of then just came home from a mission, penniless. And still had three months of rent unpaid, along with several electricity bills. "Ginji…."Ban tried to say, controlling his temper and fighting the urge to strangle his partner. At the moment, tare Ginji was already panicking and incessantly kept apologizing. "I'm so sorry Ban…."said Ginji, almost close to tears, and was picking up the glasses which seemed to be beyond repair. However, Ban, without uttering a single word walked out on Ginji.
Sitting alone up on the roof, along with smoking a few cigarettes helped Ban calm his nerves. He reached for his pack for another stick, and found it empty. He cursed and decided that perhaps it was a sign that he come back inside.
He went through the backdoor that lead to the kitchen. Ban felt his stomach grumble a few seconds ago and decided to grab anything, if there is any, inside the fridge. Ban stepped inside the kitchen and found something he wasn't expecting to see. Ginji sitting at the dining table, sleeping.
Like a child…Ban thought as he observed his friend. He just couldn't bring together the idea that this innocent-looking Ginji was the cold unfeeling raitei he first met.
Ginji's hand clutched what seemed to be a small screwdriver; and near him Ban could see what was left of his eyeglasses. The frame, shattered violet lenses, and a bottle of glue.
"Idiot. What were you thinking? Glue it back?" Ban scolded the slumbering blonde.
Ban opened the fridge and found nothing edible to eat except a week-old burger.
Nevermind. I certainly have no plans of dying from food poisoning.
Though he wasn't able to find something to eat, his eyes caught an unopened pack of cigarettes by the counter. Ban took it and went upstairs leaving Ginji behind.
After a few second, Ban returned to the kitchen carrying a blanket. He placed it around Ginji's shoulders and went outside again to smoke.
"Pleasant dreams," Ban whispered before closing the door behind.
