The two boys laid in a tangle of limbs; long lanky legs and ropy arms. A mess of black hair resting against a scared and pale chest. Comfortable exhaustion had settled around them.

Sirius sighed, "Don't you ever wish we could freeze time? You know, like being in suspended animation…"

Remus caught the sad tinge to Sirius' tone, a sound that had been creeping in more and more the closer they got to graduation, "You mean, like a portrait?"

He thought for a moment, "Yeah, like a portrait. Exactly. Still moving, talking, even a little travelling – but nothing can take away this one moment." He snuggled in closer to the warm body beneath him.

"But life moves on Pads," Remus straightened himself up against the headboard, "You've got to just keep on living, as long as you can."

"Ah, wise old Moony," a smirk played on Sirius' mouth, as he settled himself next to Remus.

"No, I mean it," his amber eyes sobered, "I'd want you too…to keep on living I mean…"

Sirius opened his mouth to interrupt, to intervene, but was waved off.

"We're not boys anymore, we've got to face realities. I'm a werewolf, war is breaking out…things…can happen..."

This time Sirius did interrupt, pressing his lips to the down turned ones of his partner for a slow kiss, "All the more reason to freeze time."

Remus chuckled, "So is it settled, we'll be portraits like the Fat Lady?"

He screwed up his face, "Well, not exactly like the Fat Lady."

The pair of young men laughed. "Certainly not."

Sirius sighed again, "I suppose we'll have to get out of bed."

"What about our suspended animation?" Remus teased.

"Ah," he squared his shoulders in mock-professionalism, "a very wise – and rather fetching, I might add – man once said 'Life keeps moving' so, we should to. We must."

"What a brilliant man he must have been," Remus fought the burning sensation of his ears.

"Bit of a prat though," Sirius gave his bark of laughter as Remus' eyes narrowed on him and lunged.

After retaliating, and failing, Remus swung his long legs out of the bed, pulling on his rumbled briefs, "If it's all the same, I couldn't think of a better time to be stuck with you."

Sirius wrapped his arms around Remus' chest, "Me either," he squeezed the hug a little tighter before letting him go. "Now, off to the showers with you," he swatted the offered bottom as it tottled off toward the bathroom.

Sirius gave another sigh, muttering to himself, "I'd want you to keep living to Moony. Need you to." Taking another moment to pull on his own underwear, he called out after Remus, "And save me some soap," before running after him.

End.
