A week later Hermione woke up, entangled in her blankets. Her cinnamon brown eyes slowly opened. The sun from the window warming her skin, which had surprisingly turned her fair skin tan. She breathed in deeply the smell of brown sugar and vanilla.

Hermione threw off the red velvet blanket and walked over to her window. She looked down at the grounds, or at least the bit she could see. A huge lake, the water crystal blue, was over to her left and a small garden to her right. She smiled and walked into her bathroom, her long black night gown trailing behind her.

Hermione walked into the bathroom, it's walls white the cherry oak trim matching her room. She walked over to the huge bathtub and turned on the water, thick powder blue bubbles pouring out with the water. She walked over to the sink, letting the tub fill up. She turned on her radio, sadly it only picked up French music, but it was always fun to listen to the fast paced music. Hermione grabbed her toothbrush and quickly brushed her teeth, dancing to the music as she did so. She heard her mother call her name faintly. She walked back into her room and poke her head out before calling,"Yes?"

"Just making sure you were awake. You got a letter from your school, Hogwarts. You can read it when your through eating breakfast."

"Ok, thank you mother." Hermione called again before returning to her bathroom. She finished brushing her teeth. As if on cue the bathtub had finally filled and Hermione turned off the water. She let her nightgown fall to the floor. She took off her undergarments and sank down into the bubbles. For once, she felt truly happy. Just being alone. Normally she hated being alone, but after fighting with her 'parents', finding out she was adopted, and Harry and Ron kept writing her with thousands of questions. She didn't mind having a moments peace. Hermione ducked under the water, letting her hair soak in the warm liquid. She came back up, gasping slightly as her lungs began breathing in air again.

A few minutes later Hermione walked down the stairs to the kitchen. Her shirt was a simple white tank top and her shorts were dark colored jeans with black rhinestones. Her hair was in a high ponytail to keep it off her neck. Her mother was always telling her to pay attention to every detail about her appearance, Hermione personally still didn't care what she looked like, but painted her nail bright red to delight her mother. She had black sandals on she her bright red toenails were visible as well.

"Morning," Hermione said sitting down next to her mother at the table. Her father was still out on 'business', so it was only Hermione and her mother in the kitchen.

"Good morning dear," Her mother said looking up from the book she had been reading, "I forgot to inform you last night. We are having guests stay with us."

Hermione smiled cheerfully as she placed some bacon on her plate, "How wonderful," she said sincerely, oh, but how wrong she was.

After eating her fill Hermione to the envelope that held her letter from Hogwarts and went outside to sit by the lake. Hermione settled herself on a huge rock and hugged her knees to her chest as she opened the letter.

Miss Hermione Jane Granger-Moreau,

As you know term start August second. Your supply list has been attached to this letter as always. Also, you have been selected to be the Head Girl. After the welcoming feast see Professor Mcagonall for your instructions.

It has also been brought to my attention that you are now living with your biological parents. I only wish to warn you, Miss Granger, our history is not always to our liking. Please take caution when you start to learn of your families past.

Your Headmaster,

Albus Dumbledore

How strange. The Headmaster had never written these type of letters before. Moreau? So, that was her last name? What was wrong about her families history? Was he talking about her father being a death eater? No. That didn't fit. On the other side, she was Head Girl! But should she tell her mother? Would her mother be proud of her? Hermione shrugged off the thoughts and folded the letter before placing it in her back pocket.
