She couldn't even remember what the fight was about. She knew there had been yelling and cursing and that Tony had left her apartment in the middle of the night, slamming the door as he went. She knew that she had been sitting here, in the dark, for several hours just staring at the wall. She couldn't remember what the fight was about but she knew it was serious. They had never fought before, they had hardly said a cross word the entire time she had known him. Well besides that day when she had helped Jack behind his back, but even then he had not been so angry. It was getting light now and her eyes wandered to the photo she had just had framed. It had been taken at Tony's sisters wedding just 3 weeks before. Tony's mother had sent her a copy of the photo and she instantly loved it. It was of the two of them, foreheads touching, laughing at some small joke. They looked so happy. It was such a perfect photograph. And now she didn't know whether they were still together at all. Michelle sighed and leaned her head back against the wall. She closed her eyes and began to drift asleep when she heard a knock at the door.
She opened it slowly, with the chain on just in case. Her line of work made you suspicious of visitors at 5am, although she was pretty sure she already knew who it was. Tony stood there, one hand leaning against the door frame. He looked tired and a shadow was beginning to form across his chin.
"What took you so long?" She asked.
"I don't want to fight with you." He said in a soft voice. He looked right into her eyes and in an instant she knew that they would be alright.
"Me either." She whispered back, offering him a small smile. She undid the chain and opened the door to let him in. He took a step forward and kissed her forehead, and she leaned into him. They stood like that for a long moment.
"What are we going to do?" She broke the silence somewhat unwillingly.
"Well," he smiled "I don't know about you but I'm pretty tired."
"Yeah." She agreed and made a move towards the kitchen, "Hot Chocolate?"
"Sure," He said as he closed the door and followed her. They sat down in the small kitchen with two large mugs. Michelle had added marshmallows as she often did when she felt the situation needed them.
"We still have a lot to talk about." Tony said, his tone suggested he was simply stating a fact not attempting to provoke another argument.
"It can wait." She smiled at him putting her mug in the sink. She walked over to him and offered her hand, pulling him up off his seat and leading him towards her bedroom. They didn't even bother to undress but simply climbed straight into bed. The two fell asleep in each others arms.
