Major Molly Kihiro stood staring at herself. Not in a mirror or anything, just staring. It was a gift that not even she understood. Whenever she was sad she was able to look at herself, as if from someone elses point of view. She splashed her face with the water that was running in the sink. She looked at herself in the mirror this time, surveying the military cut Blue/ Black hair, glass green eyes, and the grief in them. One of the most wonderful people she had ever known was now dead and there was nothing she could have done to stop it.
"Damn it!" Mac cursed as she turned the water off. She stood there for a few moments with one hand on either side of the sink staring into the draining pool of water. Her focus was broken as the door opened. Samantha Carter entered.
"Oh, sorry, I didn't know you were here." Sam began to exit.
"It's o.k. I was just leaving." She grabbed her bag and towel and exited, on the way by she briefly made eye contact with Sam, the look communicated what words couldn't begin to express. I'm sorry, It shouldn't have happened, and other expressions were contained within the grief in her eyes. Mac slowly made her way to the barracks. Unami was already there. She climbed into the bunk above Unami's and flopped down on her stomach.
"Unami, you awake?" She leaned down to look at her best friend.
"Ya, I can't get any sleep, You?"
"Me niether, got any cards?" Mac leaned all the way over the side of her bunk so she could see Unami. The younger woman, Liutenant by rank, lay back on the pillows of the lower bunk.
" Ya, why?" Unami leaned forward to get the cards out of her bag.
"Nothing, Just a little card game to keep our minds off death." Mac shrugged as she climbed down from the bunk. She grabbed a pillow and her Soda she had grabbed from the mess hall. Unami did the same, grabbing her coffee mug. They settled down on the floor by Unami's bunk.
"5 card, 7 card, or strip?" Unami began to deal the cards as Sam walked in.
"What're you doing?" Sam surveyed the two women on the floor.
"Playing cards." Unami took her auburn hair out of the bun on the back of her head and let it fall around her shoulders.
"At 22:00?" Sam shook her head disbelievingly.
"Yup." Sam turned away so they couldn't see her face.
"Major Carter, Samantha," Mac stood up and placed a hand on Sam's shoulder. " Janet would not want you to be so sad for her, she died helping someone. Most of the men and women on this base would not be here if it wasn't for her." Sam turned back around. "We all owe our lives to her."
"We should have a wake, or something to that effect." Unami stood. from her spot on the floor.
"Colonel O'Niell was planning on having one tomorrow, we could just go 12 hours early." Sam almost began to smile at the thought of Jacks face as they knock on his door.
Unami appeared deep in thought. "We could get a few other people and a couple bottles of Tequila." She mused out loud.
"And Jonas Quinn." Mac appeared to muse out loud. She looked at the other two women staring at her. "What, he does need to be informed of Dr. Frasier's Death." They all smiled. This was going to be one hell of a party.
