Good Night, Little One

Apart of To Love You Is to Hate You
It was night time. Ganondorf was just coming back from Lon Lon Ranch.
His son, Link, was brushing his horse, Bren'ya, when his father came over to Link with a black fowl.
"I bought this horse from Lon Lon Ranch," the King of Thieves said, gesturing towards the pony.
"Tomorrow is your birthday," he continued, bringing the horse closer.
"And I entrust this horse to you as a gift. The fastest horse in the Valley is now yours."
He handed Link the reins.
"I'll name him Eskai," Link said, nuzzling Eskai's muzzle.
Nabooru was tucking Link into bed, pulling the black, silk sheets up to his waist and smiling.
"Link, I'm so glad that you are happy today," she said.
"Of course, Nabby," he said, smiling.
"Daddy bought me a horse for my fifth birthday."
Nabooru smiled. The King, Ganondorf, buy something for someone other than himself? That must have been an act of the Goddess.
But this was his son we're talking about, not him, and Nabooru knew that Ganondorf cared for this child, even though technically this was not his child.
"What did you name the horse?" she asked, sitting down on the bed and smoothing the creases.
"Eskai."
Nabooru knew well what that meant. Only something fast would be named after the God of Wind.
"You named him after the God of Wind?" she asked timidly.
He nodded.
"It seemed appropriate; Daddy said he was the fastest horse in all of the Valley. I'm sure that will be excellent for my training," he beamed.
A knock resounded throughout the room.
"Enter," Nabooru said, kissing Link on the forehead and standing up.
Ganondorf opened the door a crack.
"Is he decent?" he asked.
"Ne'huja," she replied, saying that he was.
Ganondorf opened the door fully and walked into the dimly lit room.
"I just wanted to talk to him," he said, coming closer.
"Preferably alone, if you would have it."
Nabooru nodded.
"Of course, highness."
Nabooru moved towards the door, and left, but not before taking one last glance at the boy.
The blond looked up at his father when she left, his blue eyes shining.
"What is it, Father?"
Ganondorf sat down on the bed where Nabooru had been.
"Link, as you know, tomorrow you start your training."
Link smiled.
"Of course I do. It is training to become as great as the king."
The King smiled at that remark.
"And to make me the proudest Father alive," Ganondorf added on, ruffling Link's hair.
"I will not let you down, Father, I promise.
"I will make you proud."
Ganondorf smiled once again.
"I know you will," he said, kissing Link's forehead.
"Good Night, Little One."
