The Village assumed that she had outgrown her longtime crush when he had deserted them. They watched as she put her body through trials and grow into a strong Kuniochi. She wanted to prove her skills to everyone and herself, show that she was not useless. But the catalyst to the change was because of him. She could never forget him.

On her path to become a ninja, change was inevitable. Her eyes hardened somewhat, her skin much tougher, thoughts no longer naïve. Friends watched on with great pride at her success but they never knew that everything she was doing was for him. She would do anything for him.

When he came back to the Village, it brought a huge uproar. His former friends, comrades doubted his loyalty but she remained true to him. She would defend him, tried to heal him but he was too far-gone. Tainted by death and betrayal, nothing would ever be the same.

No one was surprised when he proposed to her, wanting to revive his clan. They were shocked however when she agreed. They knew…SHE knew that he could never love her but she had promised him that she would do anything for him. Many tried to dissuade her from this path but she was determined to see it through despite the hurt it would bring upon her. The bright and happy future that could've been hers crashed and burned the moment she said 'I do.'

The moment of truth came during their wedding night. Where there should be happiness, there was dread. As she sat down on her new bed, she looked at him and hoped…longed for any kind of change. She gave a sad smile when she saw none. Gripping her hands tightly, she closed her eyes and told him her first and last request.

" Just pretend you love me." Was all she said. He looked at her long and hard with those cold onyx eyes before giving a quick nod. She tried not to flinch when his cold hands cupped her face. She tried not to cry as he kissed her. He was too far-gone.

Authors Note: I know! I know! I should be working on Life Sucks but I just had to pop out this story! I think the song really fits it. It's called "Anything for You" by Evanescence. Don't worry, I'm working on the next chapter for Life Sucks but its not an easy chapter to write!
