Children think in absolutes. Absolute love or absolute hate. There is no in between. Not especially with emotionally disturbed children who don't know where they really lie in any of the mess.

To them, you will either love them fully or shun them completely.

To them, when you smile, you're happy, and when you pout your sad. A child could not understand the variations of a smile a monster can show. Which is why, when in close proximity of each other, the eldest will smile friskily sweet towards the youngen.

And then proceed to beat and maim said creature. Disturb the little thought patterns the 'child' could develop about its fellow 'peers'. Since That Person doesn't want any of the discarded children to find that there is some salvation for them. The only salvation for the monsters created by monsters, is the destruction of said monster, which ever monster needs to parish.

But for a child, that tone, that ideal is harder to grasp. And its even harder to keep that child thinking that way. For as soon as one become concrete in the mind, that wall that has been built must collapse.

So when the little hellion sleeps, wrapped up close in the arms of the oldest monster, it can only begin to wonder what sick games should be done. The thought of destroying the innocent mind completely is quite tempting. But to what avail would it produce? Destroying mentally the mind of another, again.

The monster did not want another Gluttony on its hands. That was tricky business.

But to see the pain written on that small face was exciting. Tempting and desirable.

Ah, but the trust is what killed the monster. The trust of being allowed into the mind of such a small wonder, no matter how many times the child was kicked down was what excited him more. The chance to have another crawling back every single time.

Though the Monster didn't understand the reasoning; it did enjoy the idea of being so important in the little creature's life.
