Atobe had always loved observing.
Of course, given the innate gift of Insight, he thought it was best to use that, may it be in common activities or in special ones - tennis in particular - though, of course, he did admit that ordinary day-by-day activities were not to be used his special gift on, given the fact that most people were too transparent by nature. In simpler terms, boring.
But, of course, his regulars were an exception, though Shishido did seem all too readable the way he acted when Ohtori was around. He was not, at all, bothered by this, that there actually existed people who were almost near his level of translucency, but it did bother him, and a lot at that, that there was actually someone who he cannot read at all.
And to think that it was someone way below his level.
Akutagawa Jiroh.
It was probable, naturally, that one would find it hard to read a person who sleeps a lot. He never did find Jiroh awake for a immensely long period of time, excluding tennis matches, of course.
So he decided to observe the singles two player one time, a long time ago, while Jiroh was delving in his sweet world of dreams.
… Or perhaps not.
Atobe was sure he heard something slip from Jiroh's lips. Something like… "Tasukete"?
He remembered shaking his head then, shunning all thoughts away, concentrating on the match before him while silently and subtly observing the sleeping figure just a few feet from him. He softly chuckled at the mental image of him shaking his head.
It looked… awkward.
His thoughts drifted back to the "Tasukete" he heard. Was it just him or was it really from Jiroh? Was he already mentally deranged due to the excessive reading of Oshitari's trashy novels? Or was he just thinking too much?
Thinking too much. Yeah. That must have been it.
Until now, actually, he had been giving much thought about that incident, though of course he didn't show, or maybe subtly he did. Maybe to some extent it became his topic of pondering, that all questions swirled around that single bubble called "Jiroh", though he did not want to admit it.
And maybe, to some extent at least, he found something beneath those snores of Jiroh, something more to that slightly arched figure that snuggled close to him just now.
"Hmmm… 'Hayou."
Atobe looked at the figure beside him, mildly startled at the crimson orbs that had just welcomed him. He adjusted, just a bit, moving a few spaces closer to Jiroh, running his right hand through Jiroh's sun-kissed locks. A smile crept into his lips as he let a soft "Ohayou" slip from his lips.
And perhaps, he should've observed himself before examining everyone else.
How was he to know that he was all too easy to figure out?
.owari.
